DD is EBF and has a milk protein intolerance. It was awful yesterday and we took her into the pedi (again) and I was prescribed Creon, a digestive enzyme, to take everytime I eat to see if that helps. The pediatrician said she has had good success with this in the past.
I'm a bit frustrated that she didn't recommend it sooner. DD won't take formula or a bottle and we've been struggling to help her. I've cut dairy out of my diet but she must have an allergy to something else.
Has anyone else taken digestive enzymes and has it helped???
Re: Anyone on digestive enzymes?
have you also tried cutting out soy? over 50% of children that can't handle milk, also have issues with soy.
I have never heard of a digestive enzyme to take while you're BFing, but interested to see if it works. Let me know since I'm pregnant and i'm hopeful this LO won't have allergies, but i need to prepare myself for everything.
good luck!
Really? That's interesting. My LO takes Creon with every meal due to pancreatic insufficiency related to CF.
Let us know if it works...I didn't know that was another use for it.
I will update you all on how it goes... I can't get the prescription filled until Friday so I am anxious to start and see if it helps. I haven't eaten any dairy products in weeks and today I started cutting out soy too from the PP recommendation.
But, I am really hopeful that the Creon prescription works (and isn't super expensive!). If it does work the doctor said I should be able to eat whatever I want again. What?!? Sounds to good to be true. I will keep you posted.
