December 2011 Moms

I wussed out.

Thursday is my last day at work, I will be making it 35 and a half weeks instead of 37 and a half like I wanted.

There were just so many factors I finally decided I was done working for the next year.

-My team at work is getting split up and put onto different teams starting next week, I didn't want to have to move all my stuff and meet a new manager and work under them for a few days.

-This Saturday was the last Saturday I was scheduled to work and I hate working on the weekend, haha. (This is a more of a selfish decision)

-I'm exhausted all the time because of how badly I'm sleeping, so I'm having trouble concentrating at work. I've also mentally checked out and I feel like I'm going to be leaving with a bad impression if I don't leave now.

-I'm in pain, I have back and hip pain from sitting at my desk. This week there has been so much pressure on my cervix it feels like the baby is trying to make an early escape. As well as I'm now getting BH the first half of my shifts and I have trouble talking to clients when I get them.

-Money. Our hours just went part time and based on my calculations my maternity pay will be more then what I'm making with the part time hours I just got. Plus I'll save on bus fair, my husband will save on gas from picking me up, and we'll save on food because I need to eat a TON more on days I work.

Anyone else want to share reasons for wussing out on work early? I feel really happy and relieved and looking forward to the next year Smile

  • I'm not leaving work early, but I'm totally jealous of you for being able to! Enjoy your time off before your LO comes!

  • I was pissed off at my new boss, my commute sucked, and I was done!

So I bolted at 34 weeks, it! I will have 3 weeks at home before the twins are born

  • I'm jealous.  I'm sticking it out until the end.  I will drive myself crazy at home with no baby.  Although my work is kind of dissappearing, I'll make it through.

  • My last day was right on my 35 day mark. It had become to much with school (a full day of lecture and 2 days of clinicals). My last day of school is dec 5th... Can't wait!!

  • I am always considering wussing out. I am unhappy at work lately. We don't get breaks during the day, except for our 20 minutes for lunch. This makes it hard to go to the bathroom. I can't leave my 30 8-year-olds alone to go. I told my bosses that I need someone to come relieve me a few times a day, and they have agreeed, but no one has ever come. THis makes it hard to stay hydrated, and that gives me BH contractions. It is a frustrating loop to be stuck in. I have 3 more weeks.

  • good for you!

I semi-wussed out.  I was planning on being in the office until I went into labor (or until my due date, whichever came first), but I decided that I won't be going back after Thanksgiving and will just work from home. So yesterday was my last day in the office and I am SO happy about that.  I'm so uncomfortable most of the day and I can't wait to lounge on the couch with my computer in my lap!

  • I'm thinking of skipping out early, but I'm kind of playing it by ear.  My boss is working on his MBA, and he's got finals 12/5-12/7, and he's taking vacation time to study.  Since it's just him and me in our department I told him that assuming our little guy doesn't come early I'll stay on until after his finals are through.  Part of me wants to stay on until DS is born, but the other part of me wants to check out of work and have some time at home with DS#1 before #2 gets here.
  • Because I am a substitute teacher I have a lot more freedom when it comes to when I stop working and when I go back. It is really just based on my finances. I am officially done though! Our county has this whole week off for Thanksgiving, and I figure next week I'll be 38 weeks, that is close enough for me! (I was teaching full time when pregnant with my son and worked up until he came!) I have so much to do still with my grad classes, the holidays, and keeping up with my house and toddler. I look forward to using the extra time to prepare so won't be as stressed once LO comes. I hope I can also find some extra time to spend with DS before his sister arrives. (Sorry about formatting!)

  • Believe me, I've really thought about wussing out. Just the walk into my building is killing me right now and I'm not getting any sympathy from my supervisors- they keep piling on work (which I prob won't finish). I'm trying to stick it out, though. I don't have much vacation/sick time and don't want to be unpaid for too long. My original plan was to work up until Dec 23rd (3 days past my due date) if she's not here. My new plan is to go out on leave on Dec 16th...but I'm really hoping she comes sooner.

  • I don't feel so bad hearing that others feel this way. I had aspirations of working longer but I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I want to leave work on a good note and I felt like I was slacking more and more.

My last shift is tomorrow and it's only a 4 hour one. It's been crazy busy at work lately, and I work in a call centre so it can get stressful. I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about accounts that I had worked on and follow ups I had to do. That's when I know it's getting too stressful and I need to step back.
