Photogs, question for ya

DH is getting me a new DSLR for Christmas, and from the little investigating I've done, I'm thinking of switching to Nikon. I went to a store yesterday and think I'm leaning toward the D5100. Any reviews or thoughts or advice or words of wisdom?

    The only thing I see is that the camera itself does not have an auto-focus motor.

    Essentially what that means is that the camera will rely upon the auto-focus in the lens for focusing.  A lot of the "popular" lenses (including the cheap version of the 50mm/1.8) don't have AF-S so you either have to shell out additional $$ for the AF-S version or you have to commit to manually focusing for each shot.

    I don't know anything about that particular camera, but I love Nikon! Do some research on the best one out there for your needs and go for it!
