Need advice re: u/s timing

I'm scheduled for my first u/s next week. Depending on when I Od, I should be somewhere between 5w6d and 6w1d. I'm a little scared that I won't see the heartbeat and it will make me totally freak out. Should I push it back to Wednesday to give me a little more wiggle time? I'd love to (hopefully) see our healthy LO earlier but after a m/c, I'm super duper nervous.

From my experience I would push it out. I went in at 6w based on LMP, but I knew based on O I was 5w5d. I was measuring 4w5d and saw a sac & yolk. I went in 11 days later and saw the hb and was measuring 6w2d. Honestly, I would just wait just a few days even.

I would definitely address your concerns with your doctor and see what he/she thinks. The doctor will have their own reasons for wanting an US at a specific time, and you should rely on their judgment.

R&T I am in the EXACT same situation as you. My first u/s is scheduled for next Thursday, when I will be 5w6d. It is supposed to be just to confirm placement and then the following week we are supposed to go back to see a heartbeat. I really wish we were doing it a few days earlier so I would have no expectation at all re: heartbeat. I know 5w6d is definitely early to see a heartbeat, but since it could be possible at that point, I know I will be a nervous wreck if there isn't one yet. If you have the flexibility, I might try to push it either back or ahead a couple of days so you aren't right on the heartbeat cusp, but I don't know...I mean, I am probably just going to keep my 5w6d appointment but I get exactly what you mean!

I'm so excited to be here with you and Blueberries!! I had my first u/s with DD at just over 6w. We saw the hb but it was only in the 80's since it was so early. I had another one 2 weeks later and we were in the 130's. Her hb never got above 140. So much for the old wives tale of lower hb being boys.

I don't have experience in this area as my first u/s isn't until 10 weeks so I still have a while to go. However, I think I'd rather wait a little bit than to risk going in if it was too early to detect the heartbeat or something which would only cause unneeded concern. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it might be worth the wait to push it out a little bit later if possible.

I'm not experience in this area since my 1st appointment is not until 12/14. But personally I would wait so there is no disappointment if you cant see hb since its too early. I wish you GL!!!!

I would push it back also. My OB wanted to do one right at 6 weeks but I couldn't handle the disappointment. I got him to agree to 6 weeks 2 days which isn't much, but we were able to see two beautiful heartbeats on the screen. Good luck.

Had my first u/s appointment today and there was a heartbeat. Thought I was 7W exactly today but actually measured only 6W4D. Next u/s is in early Jan, at which time there should really be something to see on the screen!
