We started solids with DS on Saturday, he did great on day 1 and 2 and was even eager to get more sweet potatoes when I took the spoon away. Then days 3 & 4 I tried to give him the same thing, sweet potatoes, and he clenches his mouth shut and doesn't seem to want it. Could it just be that he's not hungry? Anyone else have this happen? When is the best time to feed them their solids without it affecting his nursing?
Re: another solids ?
If it's only been a few days, I'd give him a chance to get used to it. DD has been on solids for the past 3 weeks (w/ pedi's blessing) and only in the past few days has she really gotten the hang of it. Before, she was hit or miss. She might take a couple bites and start fussing or eat the whole bowl. She's been consistently finishing the bowl for the past 5 days or so.
I usually feed her "breakfast" at least 30 minutes after she's nursed. For "dinner," I'm a little more flexible since she's had BM all day and will have more before bed. I shoot for sometime between 4:30 & 5:30pm.
