Babies: 6 - 9 Months

No teeth at 7.5 months

So, he is drools everywhere and has been chewing on everything since he was 5 months.  Everyone kept commenting that he was teething but we still have no signs of teeth coming in.  Anyone else have a LO not teething yet?  I have a pedi appointment tomorrow, so I will ask the doc.  But I thought teething at 6 months was the norm?

Re: No teeth at 7.5 months

  • My little girl still has no teeth.  I am thinking one will pop through any day because she keeps biting down on her hand and screaming in suprise that it hurts.  Some babies don't get any teeth until 9 or more months.  There is nothing wrong

Good to know!  I wasn't worried that he would be a toothless kid forever, but it does seem odd (to me) that nothing is popping up.

  • I was thinking the same about DD, that she was going to be a late bloomer but the other day i checked and noticed a little line on her gum so its coming soon.

My friends DS didnt get his first tooth until 11 months then the rest popped in quickly after.

  • We've got no teeth either.  I'm not too worried about it.  I just hope they don't all come in too close together!

This is how DS1 was, except his first tooth was around 10 months.  DS2 will be 7 months on Friday and still no signs of teeth. I figure he will probably be a late teether like his brother.

  • We thought our daughter was teething at her 4 month appointment, but when she still didn't have a tooth at her 6 month appointment her pediatrician said that she must not have been after all. I know some people swear their kids teeth for months before a tooth shows, but according to her it takes a month or so. *shrug* She said it could take some kids up to a year to get their first tooth.

We're breastfeeding, so I am in NO rush for her to get any teeth, haha!

  • My daughter is a few days shy of 9 months and no teeth for her yet either and she has been drooling and chewing on things like crazy since she was 4 months old.  When my husband was a baby he didn't get any teeth until he was 10 months old and I didn't get any until I was a year old. Don't worry they will come in . I have never seen a baby need dentures :).  Plus the longer the teeth hold out the less chance that baby's teeth will be over crowded, Plus once they get them you have to remember to brush them. Good luck !
  • DS will be 7 months on Friday and no teeth yet. Fine with me!!

  • We are still toothless at just over 8 months. People also have been saying he is teething forever since he drools and chews on things but I think that is more baby behavior then teething. I've read not to worry about it until a year, even then there are babies later than a year but that might be the point where you want to get it checked out just in case. I am still breastfeeding so I am happy to put off teeth since I have a feeling DS is going to be a biter.

  • Andrew has 2 teeth already, but my niece didn't have any until she was 11.5 months old.  My pedi said the record for our practice is 18 months.

FWIW - Andrew drooled like crazy starting at 3 months and didn't have a tooth until almost 7 months.

  • My DS doesn't have any teeth either. He has been teething according to the doctor since his 4 month appointment... he is 7.5 months now.
  • DD#1 (now 8y) didn't get her first tooth until she was 9m.

DD#2 is now 6.5m and no teeth yet....

    So it's perfectly normal!

  • No teeth here either.  I'm glad because we are still EBF.

I had to have my last four baby teeth pulled when I was 14 because they still hadn't come out yet.  My adult teeth had grown in on top and just sat there not pushing the baby teeth out.  I'm guessing DD2 has teeth like me.  I'm not worried.

  • No teeth yet here either!  Ton's of symptoms for months though. Seems to be pretty common.  Crazy how it's such a wide time range of when it can happen. The anticipation is killing us :)

  • My LO is 8 months and still no teeth and no signs of one coming anytime soon either. She drools and ton and chews on everything but her gums are still, pink and hard. No soreness or swollen or anything...
