This probably sounds totally vain, but I'm wondering if anyone else was planning on wearing makeup if they know when they are having their section? With ds, I hate, hate, hate looking at the pictures from the delivery room. 32 hours of labor, lots of pitocin, bad swelling, nausea from all the crap pumped into my system. I looked terrible and don't enjoy looking at those pictures. I really want some pictures I don't mind looking at and am thinking on wearing a bit of makeup. Not a full face, just enough to look human and since I know when I will be having the baby, it would be very easy to do.

Re: Scheduled section, wearing makeup?
Mine was scheduled, so I was prepared, and they had no problem with me wearing normal make up.
The only thing I couldn't do was wear jewelry.
My c/s wasn't exactly scheduled- I had an appointment the day before my due date, and LO's feet were about to come out, so the OB told me to go home, pack my bag and come to the hospital that afternoon. I sure did take a shower, fix my hair, paint my nails, and put on some makeup.
There are very few perks, IMO, to having a c/s, so by all means take advantage of it and look lovely in your brand new baby pictures
Cool!:)
May do the same lol
Yep, already had the pedi done a week ago. Even though you wear the hospital's non-slip socks down to the o.r. it still makes me feel better. Pretty sure I'll be getting up extra early that morning to shower, do my hair, and put on a bit of makeup. Nothing over the top, but I guess if I have the chance to look better and actually like pictures this time, why not?
I understand what you mean in a way. They are precious to YOU.
I don't hate looking at the first pictures of me with my first daughter- I just don't like the way I look and having other people look at them. Not only did I look like I had been run over by a truck but my daughter was tied to tubes and a respirator. I labored for over 12h then had an emergency c-section at 34 weeks.
It's silly, but it feels good to have people tell you you look great after giving birth, no?
This time, I had a planned c-section with a perfectly healthy baby. Not only was my daughter free of tubes/complications but I had time to put on a little makeup and do my hair. Those pics look fabulous. Not only do I love looking at them, I like showing others.
And people have told me I look great in them, which is great to hear when you're stuck in the middle of the babies blues and are a hormonal train wreck
Well, I guess I am not vain. Of course it is nice to hear you look good, but it doesn't affect my feelings about the pictures. Mine are all on FB for the world to see. I am not ashamed of how I looked.
Again, not in any way saying not to spruce up if you can. I just find it weird to not like your pics. Seeing your LO attached to tubes is a different story. That would bring back a lot of scary memories. {hugs} to you for going through that.
Ok, your first post I let slide, but now you are calling me weird. I don't like those pictures because they are a reminder of everything that went wrong in the 32 hours before the c-section happened. I enjoy looking at any of them in the o.r. that don't involve me, but I look at myself and think "failure". Sorry if you can't understand that I would like to have some from my child's birth that include me that I actually want to look at.
OH yeah! I'm going to take a long shower, shave my legs, do my hair, put a bit of makeup on-why not? I looked like crap after trying to give birth to E for 3 days! im going to pamper myself this time! Do what you wanna do!
Well, from reading the responses I am obviously in the minority, so call me the weirdo. I hope your second experience is better than the first!
I'm so glad you asked this question!
I was planning to get a pedi, do my hair, shave my legs and pits and wear some makeup to my scheduled c-section. I sort of had visions of the nurses making me take my makeup off or something. I don't want to look any rougher than I already do.
