Hi ladies! I usually post on 3-6 mos and working moms and thought I'd introduce myself. My DD is 4 months. I have always been very fit and active. I did continue working out throughout my pregnancy- although not as much as I did pre-preg. Anyway, I still ended up putting on 50 pounds. I still have 25 to lose. At 6 weeks PP I started doing an exercise DVD program at home, but it lasted 2 weeks and then I stopped. I'm not trying to make excuses for myself but I have never been a work out at home type of girl. I like the gym, I miss the gym..I have no way of getting there at night because DH works until 10 and I'm home with DD.
So I've decided to go back to the gym...I'm going to get my butt up at 5 to work out for an hour, come home, feed DD, and get ready for work. It sounds exhausting just typing it, but I miss my body and it's time to do something. I used to work out at this time before work about two years ago..not sure how it will play out with DD in the picture now, but I feel like failure isn't an option. (DH has even offered to get up with DD if she wakes up before I get home.)
Anyway, for those of you who work out in the mornings, is it hard to get motivated to get out of bed or do you just make yourself? Do you find yourself energized for the day after your workout? For working moms, are your mornings hectic? Thanks
Edit: Gym does not have a daycare, but it is down the street from my house...another reason why I can't make excuses!
Re: Introducing myself and morning workouts
good for you! I dont workout in the mornings. I dont live near a gym, but I am a group fitness instructor. I teach saturday mornings and I only work 3 days a week. So I work out on my lunch hours and then at home with son. take him for walks etc.
So what you have planning is a great idea. your husband is there to watch her if she wakes up. I think your body will get used to doing it. It might be hard at first but I think you will adapt. just think you dont have to worry about it after work or at night.
so if you did it before you know you can do it. I put son (when he was your daughters age in the bouncy seat while I was getting ready for work).
Also you need to give yourself time to lose the weight. you will get there. Eat clean and try to workout. I love Jillian Michaels 30 day shred for at home. 20 min. its great.
good luck.

Hi! I can post about morning workouts BEFORE pregnancy/kids...I'm only 23 weeks along with #1 so I will let you know in a few months how it goes...
But for the past few years, I was a morning workout person. This involved waking up at 4:15am because I am a high school teacher and school starts at 7:20am. So this includes a warmup + at least an hour of running, plus stretching time, then showering, getting ready for work. I felt GREAT (extremely energized) when I worked out in the morning. Workouts were split between treadmill in fitness room in my condo complex (showering at home) + morning group runs with the high school kids I coached (packing everything, showering at school). I HAD to get in bed before 10pm, though. Now, throw a baby into this (waking up in the middle of the night a few times)...and who knows.
This may be me in a few months though, so I will be trying it out too.

I also go early before DD wakes up and DH leaves for work. It motivates me for the rest of the day. I've been doing it about a year now and it was pretty hard until DD started sleeping through the night and now it's hard being pregnant again! However, most of the days, I wake before my 5:30 alarm and I'm motivated to head to the gym. I've become addicted!:) Good luck.
My DS actually wakes up at 4:30 every morning for a feeding then goes back to sleep until 8. It works perfectly for me to get up with him, nurse, pump the other side and then head to the gym. My husband stays in bed and gets up if DS wakes up.
I've found it makes me very energized for the day, however; I'm not back to work until January.
