is going to be rough. I've gone for a few walks outside with the stroller, but I just fast-walked on the treadmill and it took a lot out of me. It's a bit sad to me because I used to be able to run and took spinning classes etc. I haven't really been able to work out yet, because I wasn't feeling up to it. I wish I could've been one of those people that just jumped back into working out, but I'm realizing this is going to be difficult. I'm totally not happy with my body, but I understand that it's normal and accept it (to a point which is why I'm trying to work out). Anyone else struggling to get back into things?
Re: Getting back into shape...
I hear you! I was able to start running again 4 weeks after she was born, but man was it HARD. And I ran up until I was 39 weeks! I swear it was easier to run while I was pregnant than it is to run after taking 5 weeks off. I am still doing a lot of walking breaks and I am pretty sore the next day.
I like to tell myself that it is so much harder because of the sleep deprivation right now.
Don't worry - we will get it back. We just need to give it some time. I have friends who have run their best marathons and done their best triathalons after having kids. But they didn't bounce right back either - it just took time.
I pushed myself to start working out ( and didnt listen to my body as much as I should) but the issue I'm running into is I always liked to work out and do distance runs, ect which meant 60 minutes or so at the gym....now I need my workouts to be like 30 minutes or so because 1) I just don't have as much time to spend and 2) I want that extra 30 minutes to sleep in the morning. My biggest pain has been my ankles--amazingly they didnt swell in pregnancy, but when I started working out again they HURT! I also notice working out with 2 gallons of milk strapped to your chest is an entirely new sensation... I have been doing 20-25 minutes of HARD cardio and then 1 muscle group (abs/legs/arms) for 10 minutes afterwards 5 days a week. I also bought Jillian Michaels 30-day shred which are 20-minute workouts to do when I cant make it to the gym and for a home DVD it is AMAZING!
Oh, me too. I have 22 pounds to go, but I actually want to lose around 50. Yikes.
