What frosts my Christmas cookies

Yeah, another not board-related post, lol. Super-annoying about the holidays: jewelry commercials that make it seem like all ANY woman wants for Christmas is to get engaged. 

On the ride to pick LO up from daycare last night & tonight, one of my local stations played commercials for some jewelry store & that was the gist of it--every woman wants to get engaged for Christmas.

I remember the first three Christmases MH & I were dating, I'd get the "hmm, no ring" comments from family, friends, & co-irkers. Because yeah, I just absolutely had to get engaged for Christmas.  I would respond "no, I don't like jewelry." 

Just a vent. Stupid radio commercial.

    I got that. DH and I dated for almost 9 years before we got engaged so there was a lot of, "Any news?" at this time of year. Mostly from my mother.

    They obviously didn't meet me.  DH actually asked me several times when we were going to go ring shopping so I could give him an idea of the styles I liked.  Most women would have been sitting in the car before their boyfriend could even finish the sentence!

    Well that's just dumb.

    Who wants an engagement ring for a holiday present?  That means your lame-azz boyfriend was too lazy or too cheap to get you a "real" holiday present AND an engagement ring.   You just got short-changed, lady.

    (And my sincerest apologies to any of you fine ladies who got engaged over the holidays!  I'm just feeling snarky!)

    My honest opinion?  Leave my holidays alone - I wanted a seperate special "got engaged" holiday!

    Yeah, not a fan either. I am not a fan of most holiday ads, it just makes it look like if you don't do x,y,z, then it's not Christmas and you're a rotten person. BAH, advertising.....Tongue Tied
