  If they sold these things for $100 I might still buy one.  I have 2 extra in my storage closet just in case the current one craps out.

  We have a desk fan on the floor. It's simple, cheap, and the best parenting tip we received. I'm glad we don't have to mess with whale sounds or batteries in some magical sea horse. They can sleep with a fan for the rest of their lives if necessary.

  We tried fans, but they finally crapped out (one is over 10 years old, so the motor went).  I sprung for these:

  we have a $20 conair one from walmart (in the pharmacy section).  We own two. they have a plug and batteries.  Love them!

  I don't think a fan would drown out as much noise as these.  We have come to like sleeping with the machines!

  this is the best thing EVER!!  i used it for my daughter when she was born and we still use it and she LOVES it!!!  it's so cheap!!

  I love our Graco Sweet Slumber.  I love that I can plug in my iPod to listen to music through out the day.  And it doesn't have a timer like the one I got as a shower gift.
