**Taytee**

We had an exciting night on Monday.  Ambulance ride to Dell's with an overnight stay due to bad respiratory issues for one of my boys.  Everyone who came into contact with us from EMT to the hospital staff was amazing.  I wanted to write a letter thanking everyone but there was around 30-40 people who worked with us.  There is NO way I can remember all the names.  What is the best way to ensure that everyone gets proper kuddos?  Just tell them when we were there?  Thanks!

BFP#1 ended in a D&C 1/18/08 --- BFP#2 ended in ectopic with lap 4/2008---BFP#3 resulted in our beautiful twin boys born 3/6/2009! Lilypie Third Birthday tickers

  • I'm sorry you had that happen! No fun =( I'm glad everyone was able to come together and get your son feeling better.

If the firefighters got to your house first, they are EMT certified. The people on the Ambulance are called Paramedics. Common misconception (SarahPlz said the same thing!) That's a separate Thank You, but if you can find out which fire station is closest to your house, chances are the ambulance is attached to their "house" and food is a nice thank you, even this time of year! They don't have to be homemade even, but fresh baked cookies are popular and gone in a flash.

For the Emergeny Department, a nicely written card or letter will most certainly be posted in their breakroom for all to see. We don't get many =( Maybe 1 a month? If that? The titles to mention would be Nurse, PCT (Patient Care Technician aka Tech), Respiratory Therapy (RT). Yes, give the day and time of your visit so their director will know who was on shift. If you want, you can usually even call and ask to speak with the director or supervisor to give your personal thanks and see if they can give you the names of the staff there, if you think it would ring a bell and then you could use their exact name. But really - just taking the time to send a "Hey, We were there Monday night and you saved my son's life. THANK YOU!" You can mention any fears you had and how they made you feel better. Things like scared, worried, anxious then relieved, relaxed etc. It just makes it personal, ya know?

For the floor - Same thing, just more general and broad since there were probably dozens of people involved in his care. Depending on how well you write and how far you want to take it, using some of their mission and values can help make the letter sing to their supervisors ;)https://www.seton.net/about_seton/mission__values

Hope that helps! I'm sure every parent/patient is extremely grateful for the care everyone provides. But once home things just get lost in the waves of life and sending a thank you never actually happens. Heck, I can't seem to write thank you notes for every gift we recieve and how hard is that! In any event, thank you for sitting down to give those who were there a little lift! It really does make a nurses day to read a thank you note. It makes dealing with the next difficult patient just a little easier knowing someone out there thinks you're freaking awesome ;)
