used one of those motorized grocery carts?

Though I'm not officially on bed rest, I might as well be some days when the pelvic pain is really rough.  I'm thinking I need to start using one of those motorized carts when I HAVE to go somewhere (like the few places I need to go to be able to pick stuff out for the baby).

Are they pretty easy to use?  Any tips/tricks?  Also - are there places that DON't have them?  I'm probably going to need to go to HL and maybe BRU, possibly Walmart (and I know Walmart has them).

    I did.  I was put on bed rest (not strict) at 28w and whenever Jay wanted to get some stuff for the nursery, I would go with him ONLY if we went somewhere w/ the carts.  Otherwise, I couldn't/wouldn't last very long since being on my feet made me have a lot of contractions. 

    Home Depot/Lowe's have them.  Target, grocery stores, Walmart have them.  I have not seen them at BRU, but I could be wrong--oh, I think they had wheelchairs at BRU and Jay pushed me on one of those.  

    Yes, they're pretty easy to use.  Sometimes they're loud and sometimes you get one w/ a low battery, which is always fun.  Just look for one that's plugged in, unplug it and hop on.  If you're very visibly pregnant, it makes it easier to feel ok about riding one.  I just felt fat since my boys were spread out in my belly and I always thought everyone was looking at me like, "WTF is she riding that for!?"  :)

    I'll make sure to wear a very pregnancy-revealing shirt so there's no doubt.  That's what I'm thinking too - that everyone will wonder why I'm in the cart!

    By HL do you mean Hob by Lob by?  Because I don't think they have them.

    If it's controllable, try to go when stores are less congested (I know, ha!) but people can be rude sometimes.  If you're insecure at all, don't worry.  The people who judge don't matter.

    They're a b*tch to back-up.

    When you leave a store, if you need to drive it out to your car, just ask an associate to accompany you to your car and they will take it back.

    My tiny/ young mom had to use one and sometimes she would get comments. We tried to have fun with it, though.  Smile  They're there to be used!
