Our original plan was to wait until May 2012 to start TTC. (Have Mirena IUD removed in February, chart for 2-3 months because we were going to try the Shettles Method to try for a girl) Lately I've been having horrible symptoms similar to when I was pregnant that I am assuming these are side effects from the Mirena. (Weight gain, bloated stomach, nausea, dizziness when standing or sitting too fast, etc) After some discussion we decided if I was going to remove it now, we can chart for 2 months and start trying in January.
I'm excited, nervous, anxious and every other emotion you can possibly feel. Our LO was a (very happy) surprise so we've never TTC before.
I'm afraid to venture onto the TTC Board because they tend to be rather snarky and unwelcoming. (ESPECIALLY to those trying the Shettles Method.) Has anyone on this board used that method and found success? Any other suggestions or helpful resources that you've found? TIA!
(And before anyone flames me...I realize the topic of selecting (or trying to select) your child's gender is controversial. We only plan on having 2 children and would prefer to have one of each, if possible. Obviously our preference is to have a happy, healthy child and will cherish whichever gender we are blessed with. My son is the most amazing person and it's because of the unconditional joy and love we feel for him that's encouraged us to expand our family.)
Re: I guess you can add us to the TTC club!

Are you breastfeeding? I also have Mirena (which I love), but want to TTC soon....as in getting it out in the next two weeks. I'm just not sure when I am going to start my period though since I am breastfeeding.
GL! I hope you are able to conceive quickly.
I dont think it's controversial to try to influence a certain sex unless you plan on aborting anothe boy or something. I didnt intentionally try the shelttes method, but my son shold have been a daughter.
