Upstate NY Babies

Ugh! I wish ppl would commit to holiday dinners sooner!

This happened to me last year too!  I am hosting Thankgiving at my house on Thursday (second T-day at MIL's on Sat) and my guest list just went from 8 adults 2 kids to 12 adults 4 kids!  I'll have just enough turkey, but it means I either need to make another trip to the grocery store or hit the pantry to add a couple more side dishes!  Why can't people just plan better!?!

  • Ya, that sucks.  Mine went the opposite way - 9 adults 2 kids down to 6 adults 1 kid.  And of the remaining, only like 3 people like turkey (counting me).  So now I have a frozen bird in my freezer that I won't be making.  I bought it super cheap, so whatever.  But basically, once I have some extra time I guess I will just make the turkey and portion it out and freeze it for when I have the baby.  But DH doesn't like turkey, so that is a lot for me to eat.  Maybe I should just donate it and save myself the hassle.

  • I hate that! Tell THEM to bring a side dish! :)
  • I would also ask them to bring a side dish.  We are hosting, deep frying two turkeys and making the mashed potatoes, and everyone is bringing a side dish.

That is a good idea.  But one family is going through something similar to Telco's parents right now and has so little time that the mom has had to hire a driver for her son because she is left running their family's two businesses and her own 50+ hr a week professional job by herself.  The other, I don't want to eat food from their house, I've never actually been in their house but I have a good idea based on the fact that they always want to meet elsewhere when I drive the 2hrs to visit them and I have seen their places in the past.
