Because DS is going insane and it is only mid-November. DD can't walk yet and still eats mulch, so we don't get to playgrounds that often except on really nice days when she won't get cold or wet. He doesn't like going to them when there are other kids around, so that limits our time at them as well. Yesterday, we spent two hours at the rec center and he ran around the entire time, but he was still out of control by dinnertime. It is like he has energy bursting out everywhere and he just can't even focus to listen to us. We signed him up for a kids fun run and were running with him every day and that helped some, but the run was at the end of October. We aren't going to be able to do that in the winter.
Re: please give me your indoor energy burning ideas
part time PS?
They go out 2x a day every day its above 35 @ DD's preschool. The kids don't care about the cold.
on the weekend, we go to the mall play area, chik fila or even Chuck E. Cheese if needed.
We blast the music and have a dance party, or I'll just chase him around the house. Burns calories for me too!
Maybe a Jump-o-lene or bike in the basement.
We do dance parties and chasing games too.
Also leap frog, or follow the leader. Which DD combined in her head to "froggy the leader."
DD's favorite is when I make up an obstacle course for her. It's usually pretty simple. Jump over something, crawl through something, run around something, grab a specific object and run back to the starting line. She will do this over and over and over again and loves when I do it with her too.
DS and I often play police car/school bus/and car on the kitchen floor. We take these vehicles to the "mall", "library", "home", "Chuck E. Cheese", the "car wash", etc. We're roaming all over the floor as he comes up with these creative scenarios :-)
I don't know how much energy he's burnin' up but I'm sure burning up alot! LOL
DS has always gotten hyper when overtired, even as a baby, but this is different. He hasn't napped consistently since he was a little over 2.5, but last winter wasn't nearly as bad as things are right now.
