Baths

My LO had some belly button issues so we still haven't given him a tub bath and have just been doing sponge baths.  The belly button is looking pretty good now so we're ready to bathe him.  I have a bath seat that I got at a shower and planned to just use it in the bathtub.  Does anyone else do that or is it easier to do baths with something in the sink?  I bought another tub yesterday that fits in the kitchen sink.  Not sure what would be best....

  • we use the bath seat right in the tub--we have a detachable shower head and we use it on the lightest setting and DS LOVES it!!  we also have a ceiling heater in our bathroom and it is nice and cozy, plus we are already upstairs so it is easier to diaper/lotion/dress him--we do back to back baths with DD and we are all upstairs at once.

we used the little tub in the kitchen sink with DD and i don't know what we were thinking--it was way more work.

Thanks for the advice!  We have a detachable shower head in that bathroom too and MH said we should use that on LO.  I wasn't sure if that was a no-no or not.  We'll try that!

  • We use our baby tub in the sink so we don't have to crouch down in the tub yet. Eventually we'll need to move to the tub, but for now the sink works and DD loves it!

  • We have the Fisher Price whale bathtub that we use on the countertop next to the kitchen sink. We tried it in the bathtub but it was tough to crouch down/fit both DH and I in the narrow space between the tub and the toilet.  This way we can both stand and be more comfortable, and the baby tub as a little seat for DS's butt so he doesn't slide around.

  • We use the kitchen sink.  No tub. The bath is seriously a 5 minute venture start to finish...so no need to get a tub out and all that.

  • We put the bathtub on the bathroom vanity - seems to work really well and is at a good level so we don't have to bend over!

  • I used the baby tub in the kitchen sink the first time around and DD hated it.  This time we're using it in the tub.  Before we get started, I'm running the shower on the hottest setting for 5-10 minutes to get the bathroom hot and steamy.  It seems to be helping because DD #2 enjoyed her bath, I think DD #1 was always upset because she was getting cold in the kitchen.  Three cheers for having better ideas the second time around :)

  • We have the fischer price rainforest tub and use it with the newborn sling it comes with in the bathtub...we fill it all the way full so that baby can kick and spash with their legs and their back stays nice and warm in the water and put a wet warm cloth over their belly and keep it wet/warm--which keeps baby happy.  Yes, kneeling beside the tub isn't the most comfortable, but there is going to be a time that the sink wont work and we'll have to be kneeling anyway so might as well just get used to it...
