Can I use adult Vicks Vapor Rub on him?

Jack has a terrible cough. No fever but I can tell he's just tired of coughing and he's moody because of that. When we got home from daycare we sat in our smallest bathroom with the shower going and that seemed to help a lot. We're trying to keep him in his room so the humidifier can work and hopefully relax his chest. I've given Tylenol and Little Colds Honey elixir. I though I could put the vicks on his feet before bed with socks over them when it's time for bed? I use it on my feet when I get sick but I worry that it would be too strong for him.

  • I'm really wary of the menthol being too strong for little ones.  I would stick to the baby vapo rub, if you have it.

I do but it doesn't seem to do much for him when I put it on his chest so I thought maybe a little of the regular stuff would be better. I thought it might be too strong for him though. I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Anything else we can try? I hate hearing him cough like this.

I was going to suggest honey, but I'm seeing conflicting info online so maybe do some research if you're interested?  Livestrong.com says to give 1/2tsp for kids over 2, but Parenting.com cites a study showing it's ok over 1.

The livestrong article gives some other suggestions too: https://www.livestrong.com/article/100697-home-remedies-babys-cough/
