sorry to PW tonight.. monitors

Obviously from my posts I'm trying to finish up my registry tonight lol I'm trying to pick an audio monitor (would love video but cant see spending that kind of money. Will have to hunt for an amazon deal or something.)

I dont want to spend over $100 (TOPSSSSS) because otherwise Id just go ahead with the video monitor. I just want something clear without a ton of static, that wont die in the middle of the night. I dont need an especially far range, temp control, lights, or anything extra. I just need to to work and give me peace of mind without keeping me up with white noise all night.

Ive looked at hte BRU website and I feel like every monitor is getting terrible reviews so.. I'm taking it here! :)

  • My ds is 4.5 and we still use his fisher price sound n lights monitor. It was about $40. When he was a baby we let him cry a bit before going in to get him. We would turn the sound down and just watch the lights. (a lot of times he would settle himself so we tried to wait him out, and it was hard to hear him cry and not jump up.) It obviously was a good investment.

  • Depending on the model and website, you can find very different reviews about the same product, which is very fustrating! I really beleive it comes down to finding what works best for YOUR home, which you'll only know which one works once you start using it. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can borrow a friend's monitor to see what works, but then again, it all depends on how your house/apt is set up. Most of the time, I think parents have to make at least one exchange due to it just not working for them. What works for some, won't work for others Sad

The one I'm hoping that works for me is the Angelcare Baby Sound Monitor AC420 (the one w/o the motion pad). It got mostly 4/5 star reviews on Amazon, but it's not sold at most stores, so I don't personally know anyone who's used it. It's less than $60 but the main complaint about it is that it only comes w/one receiver.

My family is a Foreign Service family. Families like mine are posted in every corner of the globe. We live our lives away from family, friends and the conviences and comforts of home. We often live and work in dangerous places among those that misunderstand our intentions and purposes. Sometimes members of our ranks sacrifice our lives to further diplomacy.  Please remember that we serve too. And I'm always open to questions.

  • My mom has a Sony audio one and likes it. It's the Sony baby call one for about $49.
