metaformin... clomid.... now?

I probably posted this previously, though I've been MIA for about 6 months trying to figure other things out... though I'm back, and we are back on the TTC #1 track. However, DB is deployed now... he will come home for R&R in the Spring. I posted previously about TTC in the last month before he deployed and majority of you ladies told me to rethink, and we did. We didn't NOT try, but we didn't seek any further medical help to try. It was a "if it happens naturally, great, if not - okay, we'll try later." Now we've been talking for the past month or so about his R&R  in March, in which he will be home for good 6 months after that... we decided we are going to try, with medical help. I'm sure you all don't remember me, so... I have taken Metaformin, and two rounds (of three prescribed) of Clomid, obviously, none of which worked - no children. My question is: After Metaformin, and Clomid... what would our next step be? What did you do after these two medications? I remember someone suggesting a HCG trigger shot.. though I don't know how that works...

    I was never on met, but after 6 cycles of clomid we moved to follistim.

    I am on metformin and clomid and we tried TI with that and it didn't work for us either. This round, my RE upped my dosage to 150 and I'm going to do a trigger shot of Ovidrel + IUI. We could have done TI again, but we're ready to get this over with as quickly as possible and decided we may as well increase our odds by doing the IUI. If this doesn't work, she'll move me to injectables next cycle.

    Here is the plan my RE has for us now.  I am also on 2000mg Metformin.

    50mg Clomid + TI (2 follies but borderline progesterone)

    50mg Clomid + Ovidrel + TI (3 follies, 7dpo draw tomorrow)

    Next cycle, repeat of the last.

    If still no luck, move on to Clomid + Ovidrel+ IUI if I'm showing no lining issues, otherwise switch to Femera, Ovidrel and IUI .

     


    TTC started Oct '10
    Me: AMA w/RSD, atypical PCOS w/IR, LPD and High Prolactin. Controlled HP post-loss.
    DH: Low-T and borderline morph
    18 cycles, 3 medicated w/RE to get to a BFP!
    EDD 9/7/12, Saw HB @7w3d,missed m/c 1/30 @8w3d, d&c 2/8
    11 AL cycles, 9 medicated/IUI cycles. All BFFN!
    Moving forward with IVF
    BFP#2 our little cycle break surprise on AL cycle 12! EDD 10/27/13
    Beta #1: 41 Beta #2: 398; perfect u/s 3/11 hb @133bpm
    u/s 3/25 one perfect hb @183 bpm, adjusted EDD 10/23/13
    MaterniT21 and carrier screens normal. It's a girl!!!

    Depending on how you responded to Clomid, they might try Femara.  It has worked much better for me without the side effects.  I do a trigger shot (ovidrel) too.  GL.

    TTC with PCOS since November 2009
    IUI#1 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP, m/c
    IUI#2 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 5-9) = BFN
    IUI#3 Femara/Ovidrel (cd 3-7) = BFP!
    beta #1 11/23 = 270, P4 = 75
    beta #2 11/28 = 2055
    Our daughter E was born 7/29/2012!
    Surprise, our 2nd daughter P was born 5/22/14!

    I always got a period, like clockwork, but apparently having a period doesn't mean you ovulate (PCOS here). This WHOLE F-ING thing frustrates me...
