I'm making chocolate pecan pie and it calls for 2T of bourbon. Jon and I don't drink it, so I'm not going to go buy a whole thing of bourbon just for 2T. We have scotch (b/c DH is an old man like that and drinks a glass after dinner), which is similar to bourbon, right?
Think I could just use that in the pie?

Re: Can I substitute scotch for bourbon?
sounds like Boxer has bourbon to spare. you should totally go get a baggy of bourbon from her
eta: Distilled liquor. Bourbon, Scotch and whiskey may be used interchangeably. Small amounts may be eliminated. Large amounts cannot be effectively substituted.
You can sub scotch, but the flavor may stand out a little more.
Also, you can pick up mini Jim Bs at and liquor store.

Hmm, completely unrelated to your question, but I had no idea scotch and bourbon were so similar. Especially since I hate scotch (tastes like a paper bag) and love bourbon (tastes like delicious). I know, my ancestors are ashamed.

if we currently had bourbon, i would definitely share. but d just finished a bottle. we have sweet tea bourbon if you want to try that. although i prefer that with lemonade, not in my pie
I did a whiskey tasting in Scotland... gotta get the good aged stuff and put a little water in it. Mmmmm.
