Hello ladies and gentleman,
Sorry that I haven't been on here. I needed to step away from the bump because I'm stressed. I still lurked from time to time. Well I saw my doctor yester (OB/GYN) and she said that she would have to refer me to infertility because they couldn't do anything else for me. That sucked. My DH had his follow up with his regular doctor. He got an SA. The doctor had him have 2 tests and then referred him to the urologist. The urologist is supposed to call him back to schedule an appointment. Well I called infertility to find out what they would cost since we will be 100% OOP. Well they can't see me at all without any type of coverage! My DH and I have separate plans because they're covered through our work. I saw that his infertility benefits cover 50%. He's going to have to wait until April to add me to his. I know I'm being a brat because it's not that far away. It's just that after 14 going on 15 cycles, I feel like the possibility is slipping away. I know I'm being irrational, it just sucks. Thanks for listening. I truly admire you ladies and gentleman for all you have done and gone through.
ETA: I forgot that there is one awesome guy on this board as well. Oops.
Re: Ugh...
I can totally understand that you just want to "get the show on the road." IF is a whole bunch of waiting and now you are being made to wait even longer.
Hang in there!
Well he got his SA done through his regular doctor who is the one that referred him to the Urologist.
Count your blessings. At least you have the option to get on his insurance and get coverage!
Yeah, waiting sucks and I don't understand why they wouldn't see you at all. Maybe try a different office? My DH's insurance claims to have no infertility benefits, but it does cover diagnostic visits, so you might want to call them and find out precisely if you haven't already.
Also, maybe another lady can answer this: Can you set up a RE appt for your husband and have both of you attend? Infertility is a couples issue, not a woman's issue.
Thanks everyone for replying. Hmm, I'm going to have to ask about the specific visits. I have Kaiser so I'm thinking they might be strict though. I do like the idea of maybe having me attend his appointment. Hmmm... Thanks for the suggestion!
