Has anyone else not named their LO yet?

Or am I the only one?  I am going to be 34w this week and we still don't have a name set for this little guy.  Poor second children... always getting the shaft :(

I am actually pretty frustrated by this... if anyone has any suggestions, send them my way.

Re: Has anyone else not named their LO yet?

  • I'm only 30 weeks but DH and I are still going back and forth on names (and we have to pick two since we're team green!). It's a lot harder for us this time around for some reason...

  • We don't name our children before hand.  We take a list of names we like (and don't share them with anyone) and name our child based on what he looks like and such.  I have seen so many people have a name picked out and then change their minds in the hospital because he/she didn't fit that name.

Our list consists of 6 names we agree on together and what the middle name will be....I guess only time will tell what this little one will be named.

  • My baby's nameless too! Hubby won't sit down and have a serious conversation with me. I mention names I like and he seems to scoff at every one of them. Oh well. I have warned him that if he doesn't want to talk about it then it's his loss and I get to pick :)

  • We haven't. We have middle names narrowed down, but if this baby was to be born tomorrow, he or she definitely wouldn't have a name. I'm not worried at all. There is plenty of time left!

  • We are set on the middle name for sure but the first name will be picked after he is born.  It's a good thing this LO is not another girl because DH and I would never agree!

  • We have a working list, but nothing is really standing out for either of us as "the name". I plan to bring the list, along with my "dark horses" list, to the hospital and hope that I have a shining moment of clarity once I meet my LO!

  • We have a list of three girl names that we are happy to choose from, but if this is a baby boy, we strongly disagree and this kiddo is screwed.

  • We still dont have a name, going on 31 weeks. Top favorites keep changing too. Guess we'll decide when she makes her debut!

Only because you are asking for it (so please have a sense of humor, or I'll be hiding in the back of the lurkers closet for a long while).

Take some valuable lessons from Hollywood and choose names that have never been properly associated with being names. Jason Lee's son is named Pilot Inspektor, (it's totally unique and totally original, because who else would name their child that?). Gwyneth Paltrow's daughter is Apple (favorite food is anyone's guess). Courteney Cox named her child Coco in honor of of a nickname she used to have.

Perhaps nature should be your inspiration. The 60's have been trying to make a comeback for eons, so commemorate the times with you're own little Sunshine Petals Sparkles, or Sapphire Moonbeam Macaroni, or Dandelion Sunset Mosquito.

I hope that helps. Or at the very least had you laugh away some of your frustrations. Although I do love my advice, I would not be offended if you decided to opt for the other posters advice on naming the baby after delivery. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. :)

"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • We haven't - and we're having two!!!  We do have a few candidate names.  I need to see them to know, I think.

  • Nope no official names yet. We have a list, but are waiting till we meet her! Though we are sticking with the tradition of giving out decoy names to avoid the "you're not naming it that!" thing..

  • I'm 32 weeks and we don't have a final name yet either. I like the name Wesley alot for a boy. I also like Miles. We are having a girl though :)
  • I'm not naming him until he's born! There is just something not right about naming a person you've never met (just my opinion). We do have a few favorites picked out so it will be easier.
  • I don't think this baby will ever have a name. It's bad enough that I intend on asking my doc if they'll discharge us from the hospital with no name; DH and I aren't even close. At all.

  • No name baby here either. We think we have it narrowed down, but will have to see baby first. team green as well, so we need to be prepared either way. See, you are not alone. :)
  • We've narrowed it down a lot, but still no final decision. And if this LO is a (surprise) boy we are screwed.

  • We're still tossing names around.  We are team green, so we have to come up with more than one :)  I *think* we might have decided, but they aren't set in stone yet.

This!  We have our birthcenter orientation next week where we are going to be filling out some paperwork for the birth certificate.   My main question is whether they will let us go home with a nameless baby.  We just have no good ideas!

  • My hubby and I agreed on two girls names and two boys names early in our pregnancy and haven't wavered. Hopefully baby will look like one of the two  names we've picked out. We're team green and don't feel a whole lot of pressure to have baby named anytime soon. The middle names are family names and won't change regardless of the first name.
