New here and Measuring 2 weeks ahead?

Hey guys! I just decided to make my way over. I am 27 weeks 3 days, but measuring 29 weeks(just had an OB appointment today.) The past 3 appointments I have been measuring about 2 weeks ahead of what I am. My OB told me today that if I'm still measuring big in two weeks that she is going to do an ultrasound to make sure that everything is okay.

When I went for my very first ultrasound at 9 weeks...or so they thought, I was actually only 7 weeks. But I have been consistently measuring 2 weeks ahead since 19 weeks. The only things I can come up with are my due date being miscalculated, that I have GD (get the results back in a few days,) or that she's just a BIG baby. I have only gained 14 pounds so far. Any of you had this happen? Would love to know of any experiences you guys have had with this.

  • I was measuring 2 weeks ahead for awhile and I'm now back on track.

  • I measured 2.5 weeks ahead, then 3.5 weeks ahead, then exactly where I should be.  There are so many things that can cause this: size of the baby, position of the baby, extra amniotic fluid, & sometimes growth spurts happen early and the things even out.  I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Okay, good to know. As a first timer I just want to make sure. I'm not that worried, but it's still nice to hear from others. :-)

  • I measured perfectly with my DD and she came out 9lbs!!  This time I am measuring 3 weeks ahead so who knows, my OB said they can be off by up to 2 weeks measuring with the tape because they can't hit the same spot every time.

  • I've measured 2 1/2 weeks early at my last 2 appointments. The doctor said the baby is either big or just stretched out.  Plus the way they measure isn't real accurate.  IIf the baby keeps measuring early she's going to send me to an ultrasound too.

  • With DD, I measured 2 weeks ahead and my dr changed my due date based on it.  I had charted so I knew it was impossible for me to be 2 weeks ahead.  I actually went to 41.5 weeks which if I had used my original due date I would have delivered a little under 40 weeks. Turned out DD had a big head.

  • Had the same thing happen to me, LO was measuring two weeks behind, and my due date got pushed back twice. Just switched doctors and it turns out he is now two weeks ahead! lol to my suprise. However, my doctor said he doesnt mess with the due date and he will come when he comes. I think for me it has something to do with how I was eating and room for him to grow. I am not concerned, but if I could have him two weeks earlier I would be thrilled.
  • I've been measuring 3 weeks ahead almost my entire pregnancy (fundal measurement).  (I do not have GD).  I've had multiple ultrasounds due to placenta previa and the ultrasounds indicate that I am exactly where I should be measurement wise... My OB is not worried and said that sometimes women measure bigger maybe due to amniotic fluid or just the position of the baby and it does not mean that I"m going to have a huge baby :).  Phew!

Well, that was music to my ears! Thanks for easing my mind! :-)

  • I measured right on target until 32 weeks, when I went in and was measuring full term. My fundal height increased by 9 cm in a month! My MW sent me for a growth U/S. It turns out LO is measuring huge, and I have extra amniotic fluid. LO was measuring 7 lbs at 33 weeks--I'm afraid to find out how big he is now. :) I went back at 34 weeks and had grown another 5 cm in fundal height, bringing me to a grand total of 45. I'm HUGE.

LO also is having trouble engaging--he's been all kinds of positions, including head down over the last month or so. I have a scheduled c-section on December 9, which is 38 weeks, 6 days. It's being done because of the extra fluid, his size, and his inability to engage...

Unless your OB thinks you're measuring drastically ahead or something might be wrong, I think you'll be fine.

Im in the same position.. almost to a "T"
According to my calculations, OPK's, LMP etc I should be 35 weeks along and due on Christmas. When I went in for my viability U/S baby measured at 6 weeks, I should have been 8 weeks. 2 weeks later he measured 8 weeks should have been 10 weeks. Went for measurement scan @ 18 weeks and baby measured 2 weeks ahead of time and has measured 2-3 weeks ahead of time at the following 4 scans! My doctor was on maternity leave during all of the this.. she says according to scans their info is accurate and according to my info Im also accurate. So I have 3 dates... christmas, new years and 1/9/12 (my bday) and I just wish they would give me a date. I know he will arrive when he is good and ready but it would still be nice to have a date I can go off of. I have another U/S next week because his head is measuring in the 99th percentile... lovely!

  • Lurking- I was measuring 2-3 weeks ahead my entire pregnancy (based of the first dating ultrasound) and was told at 30 weeks that my son was already 6lbs.

I was induced at 40weeks 1 day and he weighed 7lb13oz.Totally healthy, perfect baby.

I worried a lot and for no reason apparently.
