Parenting after 35

Help gone!

My mom left back home to Macedonia after 4+ months being with us, helping with DS while me and DH were both going to work full time. Now there are all kinds of pluses and minuses about this. One plus is that now DS has his own room. Yay! He transitioned very well, with no complaints. I am very happy about it! It is also nice to have my privacy back.

One more thing. Today we set up the jumparoo. DS likes it more than I expected him! He is  not only jumping, but turning around and playing with the toys. I am so excited. I should buy batteries though so he can have some sounds as well. If my friends from back home see me letting DS stand, they will call me nuts. The understanding there is that you shouldn't let babies stand until they are at least 5 months old. But this guy really likes to stand. I talked to the Pedi, she said that was alright and thus we have the jumparoo activated now. And while LO was jumping and yelling at the toys I had time to make dinner. Thank you Fisher Price!

Re: Help gone!

  • Sorry to read your mom is gone, nice to have the help, but also nice now to have the privacy.  As for the jumparoo, if he loves it, use it! We used our swing like this, and as a working mom, and it helps you do one task in the  evening, it's a godsend!

  • H has been using her jumparoo for about a month now and she loves it! She also loves to stand up any time someone will help her... I've never heard of not letting them stand until 5 months. That wouldn't work around here! And sorry that your mom went home, but I'm glad the room transition went well. We did that a few weeks ago and it's so nice for everyone to have their own space.

Yeah, they say it is not good for their spine to stand that early. However, my Pedi said that it is just a theory and there has not been done an actual study. So I let my baby stand as much as he wants. If he likes it and seems content I will just assume that is good for him.

  • Sorry your mom is gone, but yeah, the Jumperoo is awesome. I think DS started using it around 6 months... he loved it!
  • I am from Russia originally and they are also crazy about not letting their LOs stand or sit up for a long time. If your pedi says it's ok then go for it!
