I'm a slacker and haven't done either yet. (LO's party is New Years Eve.) A few questions:
1- How far in advance do b-day invites need to go out? I think it's 4-6 weeks, but I'm not sure.
2- How far in advance do Christmas cards normally go out??? No clue, as I've never done them before.
3- If you've designed your own cards/invites and had them printed out, where did you get them printed? So far I'm considering Vistaprint, Kinko's, and Office Depot/OfficeMax.
TIA!

Re: Christmas cards & b-day invites (help!)
DS's bday party is Dec 11, but the rsvp date is Dec 2. I mailed them out so guests received them Nov 12.
I don't think there's really any norm for Christmas cards. I've sent them out as late as a week before. Ideally, I will like to send them out by Dec 10 or so.
I've never gotten holiday cards printed, but I used zazzle.com for DS's bday invites & they were great. I've also used Shutterfly for our wedding photo thank you's & they came out ok, too.

Griffs party is Dec 11 and we delivered them the beginning of November. We got them printed from Vistaprint. Used the slowest shipping/delivery cause its cheaper so it took a month (I think) but we ordered early.
I think we'll mail Christmas cards the 1st or 2nd week of December.
Thanks so much, bosha!! That really helps
I didn't realize zazzle did printing like that, so I'll have to check them out too.
Thanks, babycakes! I looked at their shipping and it was kind of pricey to me =/ I laughed when I read the slowest was one month, because I sooo don't have an extra month to wait =P
