I just have to say...

there is nothing wrong with a mini-van.  They are awesome.  It is so easy to get infant carriers in and out (no lifting to a seat above your waist), amazing storage, lots of room, automatic doors, dvd player, great gas mileage for a large car.  I could go on but it's time for bed.

If you are considering it, go for it.  I LOVE mine.

So embrace it.  They are great.  Plus you are already going to have (at least) 2 kids so you probably aren't cool anymore anyway.Stick out tongue

  • Love mine! I'm only 28 and I got mine at the age of 25 cause I was going to have a 17 month old and a baby so I wanted automatic doors! And now I'm glad I have one with twins on h way!
  • I posted something similar awhile back. I love mine. I haul around just fine in it in the winter (though thankfully I live in a city that plows fairly quickly). I always kind of laugh when people say they don't want a "mom car" because around here, vans AND SUVs are mom cars.

  • I'm sure I would love a mini van if I had one!  I am another that's not "anti-minivan"

  • I drive a midsize CUV (more maneuverable and better gas mileage; good size for two kids) but I am not at all opposed to a minivan. There are definitely times I wish we had one, especially on road trips or when I'm wishing we had room for another passenger!

I don't like how low to the ground they are.  With the amount of snow we get, it think it would be stuck on a regular basis. We opted for the Pilot. It still has the 3rd row, but it's higher off the ground and has 4WD for dealing with snow.  It will also haul a trailor which comes in handy for us.

It really is a personal choice. Although I do joke about bad minivan drivers, I do understand their utility for those who choose to get one.

I'm also a 4wd lover. I've wanted an SUV for years but couldn't afford one before.

We have a Sienna and it has AWD... we live in MA and get tons of snow and have no problems with it!

  • I became a minivan driver at the ripe age of 22 we we found out we were having twins and ready had a 5 month old.  My favorite option is the sliding doors.  Bonus that they are automatic.  I don't have to worry about my kids opening the door and hitting another car in the parking lot.  We had a rental for a week and the Acadia is a nice car but not roomy enough and my kids would just sling the door open and not watch for the other car.  I ended up parking at the back of the lot all alone so we wouldn't ding another car.  With sliding doors we don't worry about it.  LOVE my van.  We have had 3 now.  A tiny sport van that I can't even remember the name of.  It was horrible.  Didn't have automatic doors, wasn't a full length van, and was horrible.  The second was a Nissan Quest that Was nice.  It was totaled when we were rear ended.  I now have a fully loaded t&c and LOVE it.

  • I'm not anti-minivan (we'll be there within a month or so), but man, I love my CR-V. It just won't work with a toddler and newborn twins, though. :(
