DS and I are going to make a dessert for Thanksgiving tomorrow, but I need something easy. I don't want to do pre-made cookie dough because that's not really fun. Any ideas? I don't have a mixer ....
I like it as either a snack or dessert with vanilla wafers and ginger snaps to dip into it. I've also made it as a pie - just dump the whole thing into a graham cracker crust. This was a huge hit a party recently.
Combine 2 packages of vanilla instant pudding with 3 cups cold milk, then fold in a small tub of thawed cool whip gently. Put 3/4 package of vanilla sandwich cookies in a gallon ziploc and let him beat it with something to crush them up. Fold half of those into the mixture gently. Top it with a layer of cool whip and the rest of the crushed cookies. Refrigerate.

Mine is a dessert AND a vegetable:
Brown Sugar Squash
Using Acorn Squash (I use 1 squash per four people attending):
Cut each squash in half down the middle.
Scoop out all the seeds/gunk....it will make a sort of "bowl" in the squash.
Fill this bowl with 1/2 a stick of butter and then pack it with brown sugar (till the whole "bowl" part is full).
Wrap the squash halves in foil and bake in a 375 degree oven for 1 - 2 hours...or however long you want (you cannot over bake these, but the minimum is 45 minutes, or they won't cook all the way through).
Once they are done, take them out of the oven and let them cool enough for you to take the foil off.
There will be a sort of brown sugar soup/broth in the middle of each squash half...pour that in the bottom of a serving dish/pan.
Now you can do this part one of two ways, you can either cut a grid into the squash to creat cubes of squash and dump them in the serving dish and gently toss with the brown sugar soup stuff....or you can just scoop out the insides of the squash and pile it in the serving dish. (one way it's cubes, the other it's more the appearance of mashed sweet potatoes).
It's REALLY yummy!

Rice Krispies treats are the easiest thing to make with kids. The measurements don't have to be exact, there's no baking, and you can make them festive with fall theme sprinkles.

My kids love beating the cookies up.
