Parenting after a Loss

Does your child try to stick their fingers down their throat?

She actually made herself puke back up her whole dinner the other night.

She is constantly doing this though and making this awful gagging noise.

I keep telling her bulemia is not cool, but she won't listen.

But seriously, what is up with the sticking the hands down the throat and gagging thing?

  • Mine does it too.  Hasn't actually puked yet, but seems to be working on it.  Fingers are just so yummy that full hands must taste even better.

This. She hasn't puked yet, but she gags herself all the time.

  • Yep, Stella went through this phase.  We pretty much ignored it and she stopped.

  • Yep DD does it. I make it a point not to watch or or react to it in hopes that it will lose it's appeal and she will stop. She has cut back and usually stops if I ignore her, but will do it again in a couple hours when she remembers how fun it is. Weirdo.

  • DD does this too but I noticed that it gets worse when she has a stuffy or runny nose. I think she has post nasal drip and is trying to get to it or gag herself. She gags and has only made herself throw up once. I try to ignore it...
