Moby Wrap Question

I finally started using our Moby Wrap today.  I love it because it's so comfortable and allows my LO and I to be all snuggly.  She seems to love it too.  She slept for the majority of the day except, of course, for feedings and about 90 minutes or so of non-eating awake time... which brings me to my question...

Is it possible for LO to sleep too much?  Should I limit the time she spends in the Moby? Please advise... TIA.

Re: Moby Wrap Question

  • At this age, they really can't sleep too much. If you try and keep them up or prevent sleep, you usually end up with a cranky, overtired baby. I say as long as she is happy in the Moby, go for it! Babywearing is great for baby!

Also, I have found the Moby to be great for grocery shopping! LO loves it and usually sleeps right through it.

  • At this age I don't think they can sleep too much - but I have the same concern as you.  Within minutes of being in the moby my kid is out like a light.  So I try to limit moby use to when he's sleepy or I want him to take a nap.  So basically when he wakes up in the moby hungry I take him out, feed him, play with him until he starts showing sleepy signs, and then wrap him back up

  • What wrap style do you guys use? DS is too big for the newborn hug hold and we tried the kangaroo but someone said that was better for older babies.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

I thought that the book said that you can introduce newborn hug hold at 8lbs.  LO is actually smaller than that (on the low end of 7lbs) but the hold still seems to work.  Are you sure you can't use newborn hug hold for your son?

Her issue is that her son is too big for the newborn hug hold, not too small.  Right now we're still using the newborn hug hold because LBB still fits, but he's starting to get too big for it.  I tried the regular hug hold this week, and I felt like he was still just a little too small for it - but that's probably our next move.

  • We just moved to the regular hug hold this week and it is working out great. LO was fighting the newborn hughold all the sudden and it was because she was too big.

I'm no help; we're still using the newborn hug hold. I haven't tried the kangaroo hold yet but the Moby book says it can be used for babies 8 lbs and up so it might be worth trying.

  • Which type of wrap style do you find easiest to go shopping in?  I've only worn DS around the house in the newborn hug hold, but he is starting to get squirmy.  With the Kangaroo, do you still wrap in advance before you leave the house, is LO easy to get in and out?

  • don't have a moby, but i use a k'tan which is similar (just without all the wrapping). at that age i dont think they can sleep too much. when he was a nb, my lo used to zonk out as soon as i got him in the k'tan.
