DH's company was just purchased and while I'll spend the next year worrying a little about his job (everything is supposed to be ok but I'm a worry wart so until the new management settles I'll worry) the new company actually recognized their stock options!
DH has worked so hard, for so long (6 years) being totally underpaid with these options held out there as this carrot and everyone always expected them to amount to nothing. I can not believe that this just happened, we're in shock!
It's not pay off our mortgage money but it sure is pay off every single bill, be able to afford the newer car we are getting close to needing and replenish our emergency fund kind of money. We spent such an insane amount of money on medical stuff every year, roughly $75,000 since I was re-diagnosed 9 years ago, that everything else becomes secondary and I suffer tons of guilt from that.
I know this is a totally braggart kind of post but I'm over the moon and I just had tot share with someone.
Re: Just got insanely good news.
Fabulous news!!! Congrats to your DH and you!!!
(Also, how are you doing these days with your health? Thinking about you and how strong you are!)
That IS insanely good news. And I don't think that it is bragging. I think that sharing the good is sometimes even more important than sharing the bad. It gives a little more balance to life.
Thank you KF. Doing pretty well. Ups and downs like always but lately fatigue has been my biggest obstacle, which isn't too bad. I've been able to avoid any major pain spots and since it seems like there is usually at least one area that hurts like a MoFo even with the shitload of pills I consume every day this is big for me.
Not at all inappropriate, I tend to forget that not everyone just knows. I have cancer, a very rare form named Carcinoid. I had a tumor and most of my right lung removed in 1986 and then was re-diagnosed with tumors in every single joint in my body, my spine, my skull, my feet. My right knee alone has 15-20+ tumors ranging from 5mm to 2.5 cm.
I'[m an open book so feel free to ask anything.
Yay! You definitely deserve some good news!
P.S. why are we not friends on FB???

That's awesome! Just remember to save at least half of what you exercise for taxes, if they're not already taken out, and keep an eye on how much you exercise, because if you get enough to bump you into the next tax bracket (this is considered income too) your taxes overall will be higher too.
I don't mean to rain on the parade though -- still kick-ass news.
My stock options from my last employer helped pay for our wedding, and the down-payment on our home. It can be a big deal!

We will have cash in hand FRIDAY!
Thank you and probably because I'm pretty lame when it comes to FB
but my last name is Zie.gen.hi.rt (ya know without the dots and all
)
Definitely great advice, I totally appreciate it. At first we thought we were going to be responsible for the taxes et all but now they are doing it. It will kill us for this year on our tax bracket and the worst part is how it may effect what we can deduct for medical bills ( since you have to do the 7.5% of your income and reduce your expenses by that. ) normally between our medical deductions and mortgage deductions we end up with less than 10K of taxable income
. This year will be far different for sure!.
That's incredible! Congrats!!
PM me for our family/baby blog

Congrats to your DH and you! I am excited for you -- and glad you shared! I think at this point in life it is good to hear some stories that are YAY and POSITIVE and I am over the moon happy for you!
I also don't know your story, but I think it is totally not ok that you had these medical bills that you had to cover. It is some serious BS and I hope you don't continue to feel guilty as it is the US that should feel guilty, and now I will get off that soap box and say yes, I am over the moon for you again!
