....so, my LOs are 8 months old and we are STILL NOT STTN!!!!!
I was so sure that by now, we'd be getting some rest, but NOPE! I'm scared that at this point, I've done too much damage that can't be reversed, and I'm always going to have horrible sleepers.
We do have a nightly routine that we stick to daily, but now they are trying to push back their bedtime to LATER - we were going to bed at 7:30, now it's more lilke 8:00...here's the kicker - we still give them a bottle and rock them sleep. I know, it's a horrible thing...
DS has a thing about scratching himself by his ear. We've been to the doctor more than once to make sure that he doesn't have an ear infection. But when he gets mad, he goes to scratching the living daylights out of his ear - even to the point of drawing blood. So, crying it out really isn't an option for him (yes, I clip his nails, don't ask me how he still claws himself.) He's getting up twice a night still...
DD was sleeping though the night until teething started...
Now, they are getting up about thirty minute to an hour after we put them down, and want to be rocked back to sleep. As I type this, I can see on my monitor that DD is rolling around in her crib...
Sorry to be rambling on....I'm just EXHAUSTED!!!
Any suggestions???? Have I gone past the point of no return???
To add: both are able to pull up to a standing position, so as soon as they pop open their little eyes, they are immediately pulling themselves up, not trying to self soothe themselves to sleep.
No flames, please....any helpful suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated...
Re: Sleep....
Aaarrrggghhh!!!! Both are up again!!! And this doesn't count the two or three times we'll be up again at night...
Sorry you're going through this. A couple of thoughts:
--What makes you think they want a later bedtime? If they are waking 30 minutes after putting them down, I think they are overtired and wired, and therefore, unable to sleep. What happens if you put them down earlier?
--Have you tried putting a few toys in their crib? If our LOs wake up early in the AM or early from a nap, we give them a few toys and they play with them rather than just standing in their crib and sometimes eventually just put themselves back to sleep.
--Are you feeding them three meals/day? Ours started STTN at 8 months at the same time we started doing 3 meals/day.
