Flexible spending account ?

Has anyone used their FSA for fertility tx? Our open enrollment begins on Monday. I figure since I'll spend about $4000 for our FET, I should sign up. Since all treatment isn't covered by insurance, I'm curious if the FSA will reimburse for it. Anyone know?

Re: Flexible spending account ?

  • Check your company's policy for what is/isn't covered. If they'll cover those meds/procedures, go for it. If memory serves, it paid for some of our IF tx.

  • Ok I emailed the HR/benefits person. This was her response. "?The FSA covers all non-insurance reimbursed expenses for medical, dental, vision with the exception of over the counter medications. ". Sounds like I'm good to go!

  • We have maxed ours at most years with IF treatments.  Glad you can use yours!

  • I thought the IRS set what could/could not be covered under FSA plans but I may be wrong?

  • I've used mine before - not sure exactly which bills I submitted though.  I just submitted the receipts.  I heard it should reimburse for them but haven't checked myself.

  • My understanding was you can use FSA for IF stuff.  However, if you do that then you can't deduct it on your taxes.

  • Definitely do it. I got reimbursed for all my drugs that are not covered by insurance. It was about $800 worth of meds for 1 month. Its totally worth it.
