Anyone have a single stroller, in addition to double?

We currently just have a City Mini Double.  This weekend, I took DS to the mall while DD stayed home with DH.  I was thinking it would have been easier to have a single stroller to use for trips like this, but I'm just not sure how often we would use it.

If you have a single stroller, do you use it often?  Worth getting one or just use the double when you only have one LO?

  • Not yet a MoM, but my cousin w twins has a nice double stroller and two cheaper umbrella strollers.

That way, if they bring the boys out separately (or when they went to DC as a family, each mom took 1 boy in 1 stroller), it's easier.

  • I have a couple single strollers from my first daughter that I haven't used once since the twins were born.   If I take just my oldest, she doesn't need a stroller, and if I take just one twin somewhere, it's usually to a store with a shopping cart.

In your situation, I'd probably just get a cheap $20 umbrella stroller to have.

  • Absolutely!

I actually just picked up my second single.  Now that they are older, we do a lot of 1:1 time.  It's actually easier than 2:2 time.

Isn't that the truth?!  I had such a fun time at the mall with my little buddy :)  And he seemed perfectly content.  Looking forward to lots of mommy/son & mommy/daughter dates in the future :)

Which single strollers do you have? Can't decide whether to go cheap or not....

  • We have two nice umbrella strollers that DH got on clearance at Walmart for $20 each that we've used a ton.  If DH is with me when we go to the zoo, etc, we often take the two umbrella strollers.  Sometimes if I'm alone, I've put one DD on my back with an Ergo and taken the other one in the stroller.  When we flew last month we took the two umbrella strollers and a set of connectors instead of a double.  As you can see, we've used the single strollers quite a bit.

this exactly!  As much as I would love 1 on 1 time, it just does't happen that much.

  • MIL has an old one that is in perfect condition from my niece.  Whenever I take one baby out alone for doc appt, I borrow hers (she lives 1 mi away).  Like you said, for taking only one baby out, it is nicer to have a single stroller.  Maybe buy one on consignment?  Or a cheapy umbrella stroller?

  • we have two umbrella strollers for the same purpose as pps I also find them helpful for days when we are going to stores that aren't that big...the singletons are just easier to get through smaller stores.  We also have a double umbrella someone gave us...we don't use it a ton but its not bad either.

I'm a little bit of a nut job so you probably won't want to go by me.  I have the Bumbleride Indie Twin as my double stroller so for my singles I have a Bumbleride Indie Single and a Bumbleride Flyer.  My strollers all match and I can switch all the accessories on and off.  I was just saying ot dh on sunday that I'm going to take a picture of my fleet of Bumblerides and send it to them.

    Yeah.  I'm crazy.

  • i have a single b/c i had one child before my twins- and yes, it comes in handy.... it's also why i think the BJCSelect is the best stroller- b/c you can use it as a single so easily- no need to change what is in your car, etc.

you can always buy a single super cheap on CL to have around.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

We got a $10 umbrella stroller off CL - works great for when we need it in a pinch.

  • I do have a cheap single umbrella stroller but I use it for daycare pickup since my husband drops off with the double stroller and we didn't want to buy two double strollers just for daycare.  I just put one in the stroller and carry the other out to the car.  It has also come in handy on the rare occasion I'm out with just one child though.  I personally feel it was worth the $20 investment.

  • We have a MacClaren that we had with our oldest. I LOVE the stroller. It turns so nice and its light as a feather. We keep saying we are going to go buy one more but we havent yet, its not in our budget at the moment, but I highly reccomend them! I think Target sells them sometimes at around $99, but the one we have reclines and has a higher weight limit. We pair $140 for it at BRU, 3 years ago. I've had to use it to go to Dr appts or ER and holy cow people look at me like I'm crazy cause we fly by when I only have one in that stroller. I dont realize how heavy the big strollers are until I push it..haha! Stick out tongue

  • We also have a single Maclaren jogger for when/if we only need to transport one baby, which I had before we got pg w/the twins.  I love it too much to give it up, and hope we'll get to use it.

  • I just got a Baby Jogger City Micro, which is the smaller version of the City Mini.

    https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-Micro-Single-Stroller/dp/B002AMVEME

I was going to get a cheap umbrella stroller but I treated myself to this nicer stroller and we hope (fingers crossed) to use it someday if we have #3.I haven't used it yet but it seems really nice.

  • We have a Baby Jogger City Select with the second seat kit so we can use it tandem or single. Great investment for us because sometimes I just want to have a narrow stroller or a single! Plus we can decide in the car if we're going to go single or not depending on who's awake, who's asleep and where we are.
