Austin Babies

s/o learning tower

When is a good age to get one. I think baby girl is too little at 13 months but when do you think is a good minimum age. That way, I know when to start stalking CL :)

ETA: i see the safety info says minimum age is 18 mos...do you think that's reasonable or wait even longer?

Re: s/o learning tower

  • Kate got one for Christmas when she was 18 months.  It has been totally awesome and she has used it daily since then.  She needed some help getting in and out at first, but she figured it out pretty quickly.

  • Jay built 2 for the boys about a month either before they turned 2 or just after.  They use them all the time.  If you are handy or know someone who is, I highly recommend making one yourself.
  • I don't remember when we got it (who old Jack was), but we just kept it out and once Tommy could climb up there by himself, we deemed it safe enough for him to use.

  • we got ours right after DD turned 2 and she loved it for the first 6 months or so.  I have to say though, it seems like she is never on that thing anymore though, not sure why.  It's essential when she's helping cook - so maybe I have not been cooking as much or asking her to help?

Either way, we're keeping it out like MC for #2 and will just watch to see how she does on it as she is able to climb into it.

Hey, look at it this way - it's a great investment b/c you know you'll be able to sell it once you're done w/ it and they retain a lot of their value!

  • Thanks y'all. I'll just keep my eyes peeled for one on CL as she gets a few months older.
  • Max was 13 months when we got his. We just had to supervise him a little closer at first.

  • DD got hers for Christmas when she was just shy of 13mos. She's used it and loved it every day since.
  • DD got hers for Christmas when she was just shy of 13mos. She's used it and loved it every day since. She couldn't even walk or stand unassisted until she was 15mos, but it didn't matter.
  • DD was about 20 months when we got her one and it was an immediate hit. We got DS one at 15 months and he loved it right away, too.  They are now 4 1/2 and 3 and they still use them everyday.
