First OB Visit at long last: PIP

There are some perks to waiting 12 weeks for your first OB visit. For one, our first meeting with Junior, here, was so intensely real. We did miss the lima bean phase, but I loved DH's reaction that it showed up so fast and so obviously. There was no moment of "where is it/is it there". Heartbeat was at 169, which doc says is good.
I got all
hormonal and totally shed a tear, then was borderline on tears after
u/s. I'm not a happy crier, but the emotions were so intense...or maybe
the hormones...whatever. Really glad DH could make it to this one. He
believes it now. 
I think it might be MORE surreal now. THIS HUMAN IS IN MY OVEN! Little fingers and toes and all human.

apparently counts trimesters gestationally, and says Junior is looking
well-developed, thus...we're checking trimester 1 off our to-dos.

Congratulations!!!
If you don't mind me asking, did you chose to wait until 12 weeks or is that when they scheduled you?
I ask because due to insurance reasons, I do not plan on going in until 11 weeks unless of course I have complications before then.
