Hmmm... anyone ever heard of/seen this?

DD has what looks like a birth mark on her tongue. It's a black-ish mark maybe 1/4" wide. We first noticed it when DD was maybe 2 months. It hasn't grown or changed in shape since then and it doesn't seem to bother her at all.

I asked her Dr at her 4-month checkup and she had no clue what it was. She said she'd never seen anything like it before. She will do some research and let me know what she finds out, but I'm curious to see if anyone has any idea as to what it might be.

  • Please don't take this the wrong way, but some dogs have that. Especially labs. I wonder if there's some connection like the pigmentation in the tongue or taste bud issues or something.

The only real things I can find on it are about dogs.

I hope your doctor comes up with an answer.

i also was only able to find dog-related issues. i did find a bunch of message boards where parents had a baby with a dark spot on their tongue, but of course they were all asking the same question, so no answer there. One person did suggest going to a dentist, though, which kind of makes sense. I think I'm going to give that a try.
