We're suppose to bring masked potatoes to MH's family's Thanksgiving on Thursday but it's in the evening and we're going to my mom's in the late morning/early afternoon. I would need to make the potatoes in the morning but how do I keep them hot/make sure they're still good by the evening?
The only thing I can come up with is to make them then put them in a crock pot on low. But I'm afraid they'll end up over cooking. Any ideas? How do you keep your food hot?
Thanks!
Re: How to keep mashed potatoes hot! (N3TR obv)
I have never kept mashed potatoes hot before, but I have had success with reheating them. I put the cold potatoes in a pot on the stove and mix in milk and butter, once reheated they taste fresh.
Good luck.
What about putting one of those bags in the crockpot before the potatoes so they dont burn or stick, and keep it on warm/low. Or reheat them

This! I suggest not mashing them until the night. Cook the potatoes and leave them in a bowl. Then right before it's time to serve, heat them up in the microave and add your butter/milk/etc at that point.

Definitely reheatable. Also, we have Pyrex portable containers that come with the pack that you can heat in the microwave and everything stays REALLY warm.
I would just stick them in the oven with everything else a little bit before you're ready to eat though.

What about doing a mashed potato casserole instead of traditional mashed?
