Black Friday Shopping

Do you go Black Friday shopping?  If so, what deals are you hitting up this year?  When do the ads come out?

Re: Black Friday Shopping

  • Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no.  I'll shop online to my heart's content but there is no way in hades I'm waking up to go shopping at 4am.

  • We're going to Layzboy this year but that's it. And we won't go Friday. Layzboy is doing 25% off and that's where we are getting our rocker/recliner for the nursery.

  • Oh and you can already find the ads online. Just google. I just hate stupid people too much to deal with the crowds.

LOL this is me too. I'll do Cyber Monday - from my sofa. :)

  • I'm there w/ DH.  I don't know where we'll go. Thursday I lay all the ads out and make piles and lists. Then I decide what's worth it.

I guess what I love is that I'm about 90% done Christmas shopping by noon Friday. It's the peripheral crap that fills the stockings and fills in where I'm not sure, which I don't really think I could accomplish online.  I'm a hands-on shopper.

If there aren't any deals really worth it, and there may not be, we'll go out after breakfast and get what want from Best Buy, Target, BB&B, etc.

And DH drives me around, keeps me entertained, and stops for Sbux. It's a no-brainer. ;)

  • I usually go with my mom and sisters.  We get up at 3am, go to a few stores, and are usually done with our Christmas shopping by noon on Friday.  :)  It makes it worth it to me that I don't have to fight with the crowds later and we usually get some really good deals.

With that said, I'm probably not going to go this year since my mom and sister are out of the country and also I noticed that a lot of the stores are now opening at midnight on Friday.  I don't really feel like going to get in line at 10pm on Thanksgiving.

this... I hate Christmas crowds as it is.  We tried one year for a flat screen TV and after heading to 5 different stores with no luck we swore it off forever.

  • i don't get up early but i go shop on Black Friday. I don't think the crowds are bad at all really (and i hate crowds)... maybe i'm just not shopping at super popular places?

i haven't checked out the ads yet to see where i might go! but i'll be austin so looking forward to being able to shop at real stores! haha

  • Last year we sat on the couch and shopped on Amazon.  It was awesome.  Then DH's phone broke so we went out to the AT&T store to get him a new one.  That was about it.

Hopefully will do something similar this year.  I hate, hate, hate crowds.

  • No.. not unless there is something I REALLY want/need to get. You can usually find out the info on what's on sale online, but I'm more of a fan of Cyber Monday as well.

This year however, I'm hoping some tire company will run a new tire special. :P

  • I go black friday shopping every year with my sister and I LOVE it.  Our family makes Christmas lists and we pass them out to everyone on Thanksgiving.  When the meal is over my sister and I go home and plan out our route with the ads and everyone's list.

This is what my DH does too. The crowds really aren't that bad on Black Friday. I don't have a game plan yet, but by lunch on Thursday I will.

  • Ordinarily I'm a no, but that's because I'm always in my small home town and the only available BF shopping is Wal-Mart (no thanks!). But this year we'll be at the inlaws, and BRU has the nursery furniture we picked out on sale, so we're going to try to get in there and get it ordered.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • We went out once or twice before H came along and waiting in a line just to get into the store and the thing we wanted was gone.

No way. Time it too precious.

I feel bad for the employees that have to skip out on Turkey day with their families b/c they have to be to work 8-9 pm to open for midnight. I've heard the target employees got tons of signatures and tried really hard to not open at midnight. That makes me feel even worse.

Most of what is on sale isn't even great quality nor is it all the great a discount.

I'm not a thrill of the bargain gal so that might cloud my judgment, but seriously, that laptop for 300 bucks is really a crappy laptop that probably won't last a year.

And thus my debbie downer is out :)

  • I won't go this year since I have to ship 100% of my gifts (so would rather buy online), but I don't think the crowds are that bad. They're worse after Christmas, IMO.
