City Mini vs City Select

We have been using the DSNG, and my sister offered to buy us our "real" stroller.  We had register for the City Mini because of the price and we really liked it.

We just got a big check that would cover the difference between the cost of the Mini vs the select, plus we just got a gently used Chicco Double SBS umbrella stroller.

Is it worth the extra money to get the Select?  How did you decide between the two (if you went with the mini OR the select)?

Thanks so much!

Re: City Mini vs City Select

  • I love my BJCS. It's my main stroller because I use the basket underneath for shopping. Also I do lots of grocery and Target type errands so it's nice to have a narrow stroller for navigating the aisles. I have a Combi SBS that I use for quick trips when I don't want to have to set up the Select.

If I already had a double umbrella-style stroller, I'd go for the Select.

  • The Select does seem very nice, I esp liked the huge basket underneath and that it is slightly narrower, with reversable seats.  I didn't like that it was longer and for twins there is a "better" seat for one child than the other.  We went with the City Mini for everyday, the DSNG to start (cheaper than the the car seat attachments for the CS), and the Twin Techno for travel (all of which together were less than the CS).  We are also looking at a jogger, not sure if you want to think about this too.

  • if i could only have one stroller it would be the Select- hands down.  It does so much - so many options, between the 2 seats + using as a single... it's a great ride/drive, huge basket, etc.

I have more than one stroller- and still use my select most of the time- it's the stroller i keep in my car all the time. LOVE it.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I *love* my bjcs!!   It has been my best investment by far!!   We didnt go with the city mini because I spend a lot of my down time wandering around stores and the mall, and I wanted a tandem so I could maneuver through aisles easily, and I havent had any problems yet, even in small cramped stores like Gap and Gymboree.

I actually think the bjcs is the only tandem stroller where this isnt a problem thanks to the stadium seating.

  • Thanks ladies!  We are going to go to Buy Buy Baby to try our both of them and see.  We don't have any stores near us that carry either, so we'll do it when we are up in NY near my moms.

  • I have the City Mini, but in a perfect world (with a bigger budget) I would have gotten the City Select.  It has all the features I wish were on the City Mini.

If you can swing it, I'd go for the City Select!

Ditto what Goldie said.  Its my ONLY stroller and I love it!!  I don't care for SBS anyway so I love the tandem.
