It seems like we are continuously moving backwards with nightime sleep. Now they are refusing to sleep in their cribs for more then the first hour after I get them down. If I just let them cry a little, they get themselves all worked up in a matter of minutes. They also never cry themselves to sleep so they won't go back to sleep either. I can rock them to a dead sleep, but as soon as I lay them back in their cribs, they wake up.
DH works nights, so in order for me to get a little bit of sleep, I've started bringing them back in my room, laying one in a bassinet, and one in bed with me. I know there are a million reasons why I shouldn't be bringing them back to bed, but they and I both need some sleep. I can even just lay them on the bed for a few minutes, they fall right to sleep, I'll pick them up lay them in the crib, and bam. awake again.
I can't lay them in the bassinet for much longer since soon they'll be too big and it will be too dangerous. Anyone else have this happen and what should I do?!
Re: Refusing to sleep in cribs..what to do
I can't totally identify, but I just wanted to say how bad for you I feel! My one girl can be kinda difficult to put down. Sometimes it takes a few minutes of rubbing her belly/head and making sure she keeps her paci in for her to fall asleep. Are you putting them down awake, but drowsy?
My other girl has been going to sleep like a champ for two months, and had a little hiccup last week. Two nights last week she started screaming bloody murder after we put her down, when usually she'll just talk/fuss for a few minutes before passing out. Finally, when she started that the third night, I figured out that her seeing me after she was in the crib was the issue. She would start freaking out if I would walk into the room. I told my H just to let her go for a few minutes, and she ended up falling asleep. She's been fine ever since.
I hope that this is just a phase your girls are going through!
