Need help re: sleep schedule and leaving the house

DD used to nap around 10:00 but has now switched to around 1:30-2:00 which on a good day works out fabulous!  Only problem is though if I take her out in the morning, by the time I get showered and she has breakfast etc. it's around 9:30-10:00 and she falls asleep in the car on the way home.  Every now and then I can successfully transfer her from her carseat to bed still asleep.  More often than not though she wakes up and then decides that the 15 minute cat nap is enough sleep for her for the whole day and ends up to be a cranky pants allll afternoon (she usually sleeps 2 hours).  Usually when we're having a bad day getting out of the house is the best thing for us and we always come back in a great mood.  Now that I can't get out of the house it's making me very very antsy.  I don't know what to do!!  Anyone have any ideas?

  • I would get up earlier and get showered and dressed before LO gets up. Then you just have a baby to get ready and you can get out sooner.  DD always falls asleep on the way home. I am thankful she transfers well.

  • Yeah as naps change we just adjust our schedule accordingly. Getting out earlier etc.... Although I have been known to get a coffee and go for a drive if LO falls asleep in the car and my schedule permits it. (although I really try to avoid it altogether, and If it was a regular occurrence it would get expensive to waste gas) In nicer weather I parked in front of our house and just sat in the car and got on here to bump from my phone while  LO slept in the car sometimes.

  • Like others said, if you know you need to get out of the house, you'll need to get up earlier to shower and whatnot.  We have to be out of the house every day by 7 so I know it sucks but it can be done.

  • Agree with PPs, but I've also read that if they are falling asleep in the car that they are not ready to transition to 1 nap.
