So drained (sleep training)

We started sleep training this weekend. Holy heart breaking. How do mothers survive this? Did you cry as much as the baby?

But she's making progress already. Fingers crossed its real and not just a one day thing. I'm going to bed already in hopes of being able to function for work tomorrow. Thank God it's a short week.

Re: So drained (sleep training)

  • DH did it when I was at work for naps. I had no idea. One night I was like "meh, I'll just put her in the crib instead of rocking her" and she went right to sleep. DH is a sneaky little bastard, but bed time is pretty easy.

we got healthy sleep, happy child. It has a lot of research in it and suggests Ferber and CIO. Unfortunately dd's cries come & go, so CIO was best for her- if we'd been going in on intervals she would have continued getting amped up.

last night was good though- about 15 min of on & off when we put her down at 7, and only maybe 5 after she ate at 12:30. Then not a peep till 5:45. I really hope she keeps it up- we had a few nights of hanging out from 1-4 last week.

  • Good luck mama! Hang in there and be consistent. The first night was the worst by far but within a week DS transformed into a wonderful sleeper.

  • Good luck!

I'm a sleep training failure. The first time I left DD in her crib and walked out of the room she screamed and threw-up on herself in less than 2 minutes. I never tried it again and I still rock and snuggle her to sleep.

I hope that's us!!  I can already see it happening- night #1 there was crying/fussing in fits & luls for 58 minutes.  #2 it was only ~20.  I'm hoping that wasn't becuase she was just so tired that she couldnt' fight it.  We'll see how #3 goes tonight.
