can't get rid of morning or night bottle!

I'm ok with giving them the night bottle for a while but i'm trying to get rid of the morning one but as soon as DS see's the sippy he freaks out and pushes it away and throws it. DD just holds it and doesn't drink from it.

Any suggestions? I've even tried a few different sippies...should i just wait until they are older?

Thanks

  • Mine want nothing to do with sippy cups either.  They are fine with them at meals but at bottle time they just throw them down, hit eachother with them, and cry.  I don't know what we are going to do.  I've been procrastinating.

  • Maybe just a little more time.  Honestly at one year old I didn't think we'd be able to do it.  But we did....

  • Hopeful-I would just wait.  They aren't going to kindergarden with their bottles.  As hard as you want to push them away, it really isn't worth it.  Wait it out.  Let them enjoy their bottles right now.  I guarantee they want a thing to do with them at 14/15 months.

Can you tell that to my 18monthers? LOL!  We are trying to break the nap bottle habit as they can not have them at MDO.

  • This might seem silly but what worked for us was the when we were ready to make the switch, DH and I got straw cups and drank from them. The LOs want to do anything they see us do. One day they saw us drinking from straw cups at breakfast and they started grabbing at them. When they grabbed at them and tried to use them, DH and I made a HUGE deal about it--clapping, cheering, laughing, etc. and it made the babies more excited to use them. So, it might sound silly but let the babies see you use them in the morning a few times.
