Oh no she didn't! (MIL post)

So a friend of ours was visiting my MIL and said to her "so I hear your gonna be a grandma soon" (meaning I hear your son is trying to have a baby are you excited about being a grandma etc) and her response was "oh thats not gonna happen". Can you believe that?!? I already didn't like the woman; this made me really despise her. Am I out of line here? Would you be fuming?

    I would definitely be fuming, but I have to ask -- does she know that you are having TTTC or not?  If she knows, that's extra horrible.  If she doesn't, it's insensitive, but not quite as bad.

    Severe MFI. Me: supposedly all clear but eggs showed vacuoles.

    IVF #1 January 2012, ER Jan 14th: 34R, 27M, 23F. Day 3: 18 embies still strong. Day 5: zero "good," one "fair," the rest "poor." Transferred 3. None made it to blast or to freeze. Jan 28: BFN.

    Lucky IVF #2: Transferred two beautiful day three embies on St. Patrick's Day. BFP on HPT 7dp3dt. Beta 1 (14dpER)=106; Beta 2 (16dpER)=140; Beta 3 (19dpER)=264! First u/s 4.17.

    Wow I would be fuming!!! Thats just uncalled for regardless if she knows your struggles. I am guessing with a comment like that that she probable know some of what is going on. I'm so sorry you have to put up with such an insensitive MIL. Our family is the last people that we should have to feel put down by.

    I would DEFINITELY be fuming! Even if she doesn't know you are TTC that's really cold and awful. I'm so sorry.

    Oh she knows everything! MH is not the kind to keep things from his mother. Before I even had a chance to think about it, she knew. But, we found out the trouble b/c I was having surgery so that is kinda hard to keep from people. She knew when I had the lap/d&c and everything the dr found and everything that means for us as far as ttc.  You're right, it would be insensitive but not as bad if she was blindly saying that

    That is horrible and you have every right to be upset.  I would be fuming too!

    For sure I'd be fuming! Some people have no respect.

    I hope your DH will have a word with her about that.

    Yep. Id be pissed. Ive been in a similar situation except my MIL told ME back in March the day after my lap that I wouldnt be able to go to the Cloth Diaper ReSale in October after I was bummed I was missing it in April because I wasn't pregnant. (insinuating I wouldn't have a reason by then to go!) I wasn't happy.

    Wow that is very insensitive.  I would definitely be upset.  So sorry she said that!

    IVF #1 with ICSI - ER 1/20 (16R, 12M, 10F), ET 1/23 (1-10 cell and 1-8cell transferred), BFP on 1/31 Beta #1 on 2/3 = 68, Beta #2 on 2/6 = 261 EDD 10/12/12  
    Baby girl born 9/22/12

    FET #1 - 9/16/13 - BFN

    IVF #2 - ER 11/11/13 (24R, 18M, 16F), ET 11/16 (2 Grade A blasts)
    BFP on 11/23 Beta #1 = 76 EDD 8/2/14

    Wow, that is horrible - so sorry about the lack of support you have from your MIL.  HUGS!

    Transferred two beautiful 8 cell embryos
    Beta #1 7/26 = 484 Beta #2 7/28 = 1045
    . U/S 8/10 showed one baby with a strong heartbeat!
