Ladies of GD please help! False reading?

Ok ladies tonight for dinner I had two homemade BBQ chicken breasts that were grilled with spinach. I had no bread, no juice, no milk... I took my BS at two hours post meal, I was in a rush did not wash my hands before testing and my glucometer gave me a reading of 225! After staring at the number for a good twenty minutes in complete confusion I decided to test again just to make sure. So I washed my hands this time and my glucometer said was reading was 98! I know it is not possible for my BS to drop by 127 in a matter of twenty minutes. So do you ladies think that I got a false reading? I think I did, considering I ate 48 grams of protein from the chicken and only 8 carbs from the spinach... thoughts?!?

  • Could be a few things.  It could have dropped that much in that time,  the BBQ sauce did it or your finger wasn't clean.   BBQ sauce has a lot of sugar.  I still would not worry about one high reading.

  • Yup - what PP said.  BBQ sauce can be high in sugar.  My bet is that it was on your finger when you tested, so your reading was high.

  • Agreed. Likely a false reading due to dirty hands. If you ever get a weird unexplained number you should always consider testing again just to be sure.
