Do they still take 2 naps or are they down to 1?
DD is normally awake at 5:30/6:00. For the past two weeks she's only been napping for 1-1.5 hours in the morning. Then she is up from 10:00/10:30until 7:00/7:30. Needless to say, she's exhausted by the end of the day. Do you think she's trying to drop down to one early afternoon nap?
ETA: DD is 14.5 months old.
Re: If you have an early riser...
DD is up at 6 or 6:30 at the very latest. She takes one nap around 12:30 or 1 each day for about 2-2.5 hours and goes to be around 7:30. She's been on one nap since before 12 months (partly due to our schedule and partly of her own doing).
I don't know how old your DD is, but I would definitely try to push her nap back if you can.
Since the time change this is our schedule as well. If I can get DS to sleep until 7 I'm lucky! I used to p/u my neighbors DD @ the bus @ 3:30 so I would put him down no later than 1 to ensure a decent nap. Now he's just used to it and will go down anywhere between 11a (sometimes with no lunch if he's recently had a snack) and 1p and he'll usually sleep a/b 2 hrs. Now that I don't go to the bus I try and push it closer to 12 or 1ish. Today he slept from 1-4:30 when I woke him up so that he'd go to bed at a decent time. He doesn't usually sleep that long but he had a friend over this morning so he was exhausted!!
DS is up by 6. He takes 1 nap, at 1:00 at daycare but closer to 12-12:30 on the weekends. I kept hoping the 1 nap would make him sleep in, but nope.
ETA: This was mostly imposed by a room switch at DCP at 15 months; however, he was occasionally taking longer morning naps and skipping his afternoon nap right before then.
DS is usually up by 6:30, takes two naps (30-45 min for the first and 45-90 min for the second) and goes to bed at 7:30pm.
I also started thinking he might be ready to drop a nap, but generally-speaking he seems happier taking both and sleeping10-11 hours a night.
