Has anyone used nystatin for diaper rash?

Dr thought Evie looked like she had a yeast rash, so I was treating it w/OTC jock itch cream (per dr instructions).  It got better but then it came back even worse.  I called the dr's office and they called in a perscription for nystatin cream (which cost $68, wth?).

Anyway, it says on the box to use it 2x a day.  I'm wondering if I should also use regular diaper rash cream (I have CA baby and desitin) at her other diaper changes or not.  I don't really want to page the on-call dr to ask this question.  Anyone have any experience?

  • I would use it on Mattie, and it worked wonders. We haven't had one bad enough for Brooks to need it yet.  I know its $$, but the tube lasts a long way.  You only use a pea size drop.

  • Holy cow! $68? I think I paid $10...but it did last a long time and worked really well on the rash. When I didn't use it, I used regular diaper cream since I didn't want her to get any more irritated than she already was.
