I TRY to get him to nap in his own bed, but lately Ive been resorting to the carseat or bouncy if he doesnt fall asleep in his bed. He will ususally only nap in his bed if I hold him until he is completely asleep and then lay him down and with a toddler, I dont always have time to soothe him into a deep sleep. So lately, I put him in the other locations because he tends to fall asleep on his own without soothing (which is good). I could try and leave him in his bed longer to see if he will fall asleep on his own, but he often doesnt and I dont want him to get overtired or miss the window in which he should be going back to sleep for a nap. Hope this makes sense.
Should I be doing whatever means necessary to make sure he naps regardless of location? Any tips on getting him to sleep better in his own bed (I swaddle and make sure he is fed and calm and put him down within 45 minutes-1hr of waking from his last nap...
Re: Another infant nap question....
He's only a month I wouldn't stress about where he naps and just make sure he doesn't get overtired.
Could you sit the bouncey or carseat in his crib so he at least is sleeping in it, even if it's not flat on the mattress? I was ok with this with DD because I have a video monitor so I could see her and keep an eye on her.
Only suggestion is really watch for his sleep cues. I read to hold the baby on your lap facing you and watch for his eyes to close and then sit him down before he's asleep so he doesn't get used to being held, not that that worked with DD but it's something to try.
I do try and do this....if he takes a paci at that moment and it doesnt fall out of his mouth, he sometimes fall asleep on his own in the co-sleeper. I feel like Im definitely watching his cues, but he tends to just lay in his bed silently with his eyes wide open. Then i put him down in the other locations and he passes out within 5 minutes.
Oh--and he does not 'easily' pass out when we hold him....its strange cause DS#1 would fall asleep so quick in our arms

Then it doesn't sound like he's developing any negative sleep associations so I wouldn't worry about it and would just let him nap where he will.
One thing just popped into my head, is his room quieter then where he naps easily? i.e. does he nap in the bouncey while big brother is playing? If so maybe his room is too quiet, if he's used to the normal type of noise it's possible it bothers him to have so much quiet. I might try a sound machine/radio on softly and see if it helps.

At that age DD only slept in her crib at night. During the day she was in her PnP in the living room, or maybe in my Moby, or wherever.
Just curious as to why he needs to sleep in his bed/crib.
I guess he doesnt 'need' to nap in his bed, it would just be nice if he did/got used to doing so

But why? Just curious. It was easier for DD to nap in the living room while I did stuff in the kitchen, etc. than to have to deal with the monitor and all that when she was sleeping upstairs. And at least one of our baby books said a good way to get them to figure out night and day was to have them nap somewhere other than their crib in the early months and sleep at night in their crib.
If you really want him to sleep in his bed, great, but I wouldn't stress over it just yet.
Sleeping in a car seat is a SIDS (actually, a suffocation risk) so I would not have him nap there, period.
I'm glad to hear this, because Annika is fine in her crib at night, but hates it during the day for some reason :O
