I have a son, guess it's a little different with a girl to factor in dresses and stuff. But how may outfits does your LO have?
My guy has maybe 20 shirts and 7/8 pants that I like (more but I don't care for them) My hubs cousin asked if I wanted some hand me downs and I said SURE!
DUDE... She gave me 10x what my kid owns now. All 2t. All nice stuff, mostly gap and ralph lauren with a little bit of target. I was shocked to see what she had. I feel like a bad mom.
How many clothes does you LO have?!
Re: can we talk baby's wardrobe real quick?
I am probably pretty close to you, I think. I don't buy DD stuff unless it's a necessity, like jeans, sleepers, or socks, but everyone else does. Right now, she probably has 6 outfits (co-ordinating pants/onesies/shirts), 4 dresses (2 casual, 2 fancy), 8 pairs of pants and 10 shirts. She has a few more things if I count the stuff that technically fits, but I am either tired of it or don't like it.
She has a lot of stuff in the next size up as well, so sometimes I put on a shirt from that size and just roll up the sleeves.
We do have a crapton of shoes, though. I am a compulsive matcher and shoe addict.
He has about 20 shirts, 6 pairs of pants, 4 sets of overall, a couple sweaters, 2 coats, 1 pair of shoes and 1 pair of boots
I bought him a bunch of stuff this fall and every once inawhile will buy him a new shirt or pants if they are on sale.
I am sure he will get some new stuff for christmas as well.

well I feel better about the wardrobe I had for him... I could not do laundry for a month minimum with all the stuff she gave me.
Why do kids need all that? I'm happy she gave it to me, but I prey no one gets him clothes for christmas!
DS has 12 or so casual shirts, 2 nice sweaters, 4 jeans, 2 cords, 2 khakis, 1 dress pants, 1 pair tennis shoes, 1 pair brown shoes, 1 pair black dress shoes, a light jacket, a heavy coat, and 2 sets of hat/mittens.
I'd say about 80% is from Target and the rest is mostly from Carter's.
DD1 was known to her daycare as the fashion statement... lol. I don't think she wore the same outfit more than twice. Now with DD2, I realize that was rediculous! They grow out of things so fast that they don't have time to get any actual use out of clothes.
DD2 has about 6 outfits, 4 extra pants, a few long sleeve onesies and shirts, and 2 dresses. I think she has enough. I do her laundry at least once a week and more if needed and I am happy with what she has.
DD doesn't have a ton of clothes, and a lot of what I buy her is consignment. I have never understood moms who buy tons of dresses and other random stuff for a LO this age - so not practical. Between playing outside, eating, and how fast they grow it just makes no sense!
I have more than you, but less than you were given. Sounds like you hit the jackpot! I think we have between 15-20 pair of pants, but I'd say about 10 that fit him now. Some are still too big/long. He's got about 20 long sleeved T-shirts, 1/2 are 18-24 mo. and the other 1/2 are 2T. He's starting to outgrow the smaller size in length so if he wears the 2T I have to roll the sleeves. He has about 5 long sleeve button downs, a couple of sweater vests (for special occasions/holiday celebrations coming up) and 4 sweaters. I have several zip up hoodies, 1 winter coat and 2 pair of shoes. Oh, and LOTS of PJs....his PJ drawer is stuffed!
I have a Sh*t ton of clothes for DD, but let me just say that 95% of her clothes are hand me downs. I have a LOT of friends with girls just a bit older than my DD. I usually only buy socks, tights, PJs and outfits for special ocasions, other than that she's pretty much set!
I would never buy as much stuff as I have for DD....sometimes I feel guilty that I have all this stuff and she never wears some of it before she grows out of it.
DS has probably 10-12 pants, 8-10 short sleeve shirts, 8-10 long sleeve shirts, 4 long sleeve onesies, 3 rompers, and 7 pj's. But only one pair of shoes! He's got extra wide feet so Stride Rite is the only place I've found to shop and they are so darn expensive that I cannot justify more than 1 pair of shoes.
And my mom forgot them last week when she had him for a day so he had no shoes for a week because she lives more than an hour away! LOL
Looking back at the little clothes though, my friend gave me like a 1/3 of her hand me downs from her son and that was a ton! She must have had a stash like you've gotten now.
this is the problem we are running into too. He his feel rival Fred Flinstone's

DD has always had tons of clothes. Most are hand me downs from friends. I've never bought anything full price, maybe a pair of shoes once or something. I buy on clearance/sale from Baby Gap, Target, and online on zulily mostly. She has lots of clothes because she has almost a full wardrobe at daycare - they change her at least once a day because of water play, art, playing in the dirt, etc so she has at least 5 shirts and 5 pairs of pants there.
DD has enough clothing to fill a large storage bin. That's what I've been storing her outgrown clothes in and I pretty much fill one for every size. I'm estimating about 16-20 outfits. I like to buy separates too that I can mix/match, so she has a bunch of those too.
I have a friend who has given me hand me downs for almost every clothing size. They've all been great clothes with a combination of Carters, Children's Place, Old Navy, Gap and Target. I've been able to use about 95% of what she's given me and I've only had to supplement a few pieces here and there. Like a particular color of pant to go with some tops or adding in a few dresses, since she doesn't put her daughter in dresses very often.
All in all, I'd say that Tegan has roughly 20 short sleeved shirts, 20 long sleeved shirts, 4 pairs of blue jeans, 3 pairs of different colored "jeggings", 5-6 pairs of leggings and just a couple of dresses in her current size. I'm very grateful for the hand me downs and it's so nice to not have to spend money on buying an entire wardrobe every time Tegan goes up a size.
Now, if I had to buy Tegan an entire wardrobe for a season (which I had to do the first summer after she was born), I'd probably have enough clothes that I could go about 2 weeks without washing her clothes. So, that'd be about 15-20 tops, 10 or so bottoms and 8-10 dresses (especially during the summer).
DS has about 15 pairs of pants, 15 long sleeve shirts, 7-8 button downs and maybe 6 or 7 sweaters. He also has a blazer and about 8 pairs of shoes. To be fair, he's worn the same size now for close to a year, so he's not been growing out of it very fast. I'm not counting his summer clothes into this equation.
I've bought a lot of DD's clothing from consignment. Technically, she probably has more "pants" than DS, but some of those are just little leggings that don't cost that much. It's easier to find nice stuff at consignment stores for the smaller sizes. Once kids start wearing one size for a year or more, they tend to wear it out by the time they are done with it.
DD definitely has more "outfits", while DS has more separates.
DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)
DD has close to what your DS has, but with 5-6 dresses and skirts (for church) thrown in there.
IMO she needs enough to get through a laundry cycle.

Yeah, kind of in the same boat. I just don't get kids who have more clothes than some adults. DD prob has 3 pairs of pants (outside pants) and a couple pairs of sweat/fleece pants for indoors. Maybe 5 shirts, 2 sweaters, 2 casual dresses and some PJs.
We did spend $100 on her MEC snowsuit (Canadians will know what MEC is), but that's cause it's freakin' cold here and I'd rather buy her quality vs quantity.

E has grown so quickly, that I keep his wardrobe to a minimum.
I'm guessing he has about 5 pr pants, dozen or so tops, 2 hoodies, 1 3-in-1 coat, and maybe 6-7 jammies.
At 11 mo old, he's 2T in tops and 3T in bottoms (we cuff the legs.) Once his growth starts to slow, I will probably buy him a larger variety.
He's not in day care, and spends much of his time inside our house. We'll probably get him a pair of shoes soon - he wears the soft soled ones now, or just socks.
I would say that DD has way more clothes than she needs based on the fact that people are always buying her/handing her down clothing. 75% of the time the clothes are NMS or are faded and she doesnt end up wearing them. I tend to only buy Ralph Lauren(mainly from TJs) or Old Navy. It holds up well, and Old Navy fits her best and is cheap.
We live in Florida so she only has about 3 pairs of pants, and 3 long sleeve shirts. She had a couple of zip up hoodies, and one nice pea coat, in the event it ever gets cold here. The rest are dresses. I usually tend to have two pairs of shoes for her at each size, one pair of play shoes(in a darker color) and one pair of white mary jane keds(they go with everything and I buy them for her everytime). I use spray bleach on her white shoes, and clean them every time they get dirty, so they always look new. I only buy her shoes at Stride Rite. To me quality over quantity is the key. I would say 95% of her clothes are in mint condition, and will look brand new if we have another girl.
When she gets older I will be much more inclined to invest in a larger wardrobe, but at the rate they grow at this age, it doesnt make alot of sense to me!
